First of all, it is bad form and potentially dangerous to be changing cables with speaker power ON. Second, IS the unidentified TV passing audio out those jacks? Its own audio menu and controls may be between the sound and the jacks.

Very dull sound from the 4 rear spekers on my 7.1 set up for the ONKYO 802. This happens for the satellite input for tv channels, is this normal that I will only get surround sound via a disc or other...

Your basic setup through the Onkyo establishes the base levels of each speaker channel with test tones. The tones should also sound pretty much the same from speaker to speaker.

How a given surround mode works with a given input would be documented in the manual. Even stereo sources can be proecessed into some form of 7-speaker output.

"ONKYO 802" is not unique. Are there letters?

Most TV stations you watch don't send a surround sound mix so you won't get anything in the back speakers. DVDs generally all have a surround mix which is why it sends to all speakers. What you are experiencing is normal, Bob.

How do I hook up speakers?

If you are referring to 5.1 surround you would have to have 5 speakers plus one powered subwoofer. The front left and right as well as your center channel to the majority of the sound reproduction with the rear channel being there for intricate sounds and background noise. The subwoofer will be a preamp output from your receiver. That signal will then get amplified by your subwoofers power amp. Generally subwoofers are tucked away in a corner while the other 5 speakers form a box around your viewing area.

System turns on but only hear feedback fomr speakser no sound

do the headphones work?that means the pre amp is working.
the speaker protection is maybe activated from shorted wires on the back, there should be a click 5 to 7 seconds after turning it on.
that is the relay that connects the speakers.check the speaker a and b switch. people are not aware of this, but alot of amplifiers ADD the a and b speakers,to prevent too low an impedance from parallel wiring.unless there is 4 speakers,no sound.

Only Direct sound works good, and only two speakers

Some sound fields have reverberant effects that need adjusting so the levels become audible, such as in "stadium" mode. While playing one of these sound fields, navigate through the speaker setup menu and make adjustments to the "effects" percentage, and levels. Be aware however, that only in 4 channel stereo mode will your surround speakers produce sound 100% of the time. Also, in any form of Dolby Pro Logic mode you will hear more sound from the surround speakers originating from stereo source material than from monoaural material...example, a television station broadcast in stereo versus mono.

Hi there, My 50 watt MG series marshall amp keeps making a loud rattling sound when its turned up loud. Any ideas why this is and how i could fix it? Ashley Fields e-mail: ashley_ibanez@yahoo.co.uk

bring spray contact cleaner from radio shack near you and clean volume control for amp while you are moving it forward and backward---do not put your mic in front of your speakers because this will give you more trouble.

audio will not run through an s-video cable.   it is only for video.  you will have to still connect normal cables (red/white) to get sound.
