Video issue This just suddenly started happening out of the blue. /*/*/*/* What happens /*/*/*/* - When i boot up my computer everything is normal, but after a few minutes a grid of little blocks begins to flash. And performance is terrible, the computer is slow. Eventually the computer stalls/freezes and has to be reset. /*/*/* I think... it must be overheating some where, but where? the video card, CPU, or ram? /*/*/* What i have tried... - Tried to uninstall then re-install updated video card drivers. no help - Tried switching the video card PCI slots. nothing different *** also there is a red light on the motherboard between the PCI slots, does this mean anything?*** ________Hardware_____________ Albatron K8SLI socket AMD 939 AMD 64 3000 1.8G 1G DDR 400 dual channel corsair value select Ram Xfx Nvidia 6800GT 256M Rosewill 500W PSU 320G SATA HD 120G ATA HD 40G ATA HD CRT monitor

My hp 3115m keeps rebooting. a blue screen pops up and says there was an error and my computer will restart. it keeps doing this over and over. what can I do?

chris, did you download an application or driver? If so try uninstalling it in safe mode. Blue screen is not a good sign. Re-start normally after the uninstall.

Emachines t5274 vertical blue lines during startup/XP.

It looks like you've got two issues. If you tried a different monitor and it too have vertical blue lines your video card might be bad, but hold that thought. I'm thinking you need to reload the operating system because you can't boot all the way up which is the second issue.

Have you tried to boot up in Safe Mode and do a System Restore? Turn the computer off, then turn it back on and immediately start hitting the F8 key repeatedly until you see SAFE MODE. Select the Safe Mode option. When it boots, if it boots successfully things will look different in Safe Mode. The screen will be darker and icons bigger, but that's normal. If you get into the desktop successfully, click Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Restore. Select a restore point (date and time) that is before you started having problems. If the system tells you that you have no restore points, then you will have to either Reload the Operating System or do a System Recovery. By the way, System Restore does not lose your data, documents, music, pictures, videos, or programs unless the program was installed after the restore date. System Recovery LOSES EVERYTHING, it sets your system back to when you first purchased it.

Acer Travelmate 230 laptop starts up shows the Acer screen then gets to the windows loading screen after that the screen goes black and does nothing else. what can i do?

What operating system do you have?

What happened prior to the issue? Did you do an update/ installed a new software in your computer?
Try to boot to safemode:
1. Turn your computer on and tap on F8 before the splash screen appears. 2. You will get a black screen that says Advanced Boot Options. Choose Safe Mode with Networking. 3. If the issue does not reoccur there, the problem might be related to the video card driver. Uninstall the video card driver:
a. Click start, right click on My Computer. Choose properties b. Go to Advanced tab and click on device manager. c. click on the plus sign beside display adapter. d. right click on the video card driver found there and uninstall. It will prompt you is you are sure you want to delete it. Click yes. e. Then restart your computer. Boot to normal mode (just let it boot and do not press anything as you boot the computer)

The issue should not be present in Normal Mode but your screen resolution will be very different (bigger). Download the correct driver for your computer from the links posted below:
video driver 1 or video driver 2

My system with asus p5n73-am mother board shows BSOD

if nothing else is affected and everything runs fine after this then i would be careful on what you install because this could become a serious issue this happens because the computer notices an error on startup then either fixes itself or ignores the problem write back if the problem worsens

My computer is stuck on the startup screen

Does it have the options for starting in safe mode, but no matter what, it reboots?

If so, use a winxp cd ( asuming you have winxp installed) and boot from cd like your going to install windows. When it loads it should have an option screen thats blue with white text.

Select R for repair. it will close and go to the command prompt. Then type in ( chkdsk C: /P ) exactly.

Let it run the repair and when done, type: Exit or just reboot, remove disk and let it boot normally. when that screen comes up with white text saying to select boot option, just pick, Start windows normally.

It should then work fine and go into windows.

If this fixes it, then some how your boot files got erased and the repair fixed them. This happens alot with Dell computers. Its random and usually happens after installing something. So remember how to do this in case it happens again,

Good Luck

Acer 4520 Booting Problem.

i would suggest to uninstall and reinstall the drivers of your network adapter, or it would be best if you install the latest drivers for it. no need to format the HD.
if you feel that formating is needed, it would also work but that takes a lot of work.

hope this helps. :)

Automatically stops and starts

This is usually because of a bad driver. Boot the computer and press F8 every half second until you see a black&White text menu - then choose safe mode boot

If it does boot then try System Restore back to earlier point in time.

Report back what happens?

Laptop boots up intermittently or screen freezes

basing on the information you have given here are the possible solutions:
remove any external device connected to your system (printer, external hard drive and others) if removing this does not work and still gets a blank screen with blinking cursor try to go to safe mode with networking. if successful try to download the driver for your video adapter.

when you try to start the computer , do get anything on the screen like a logo? when does the blank screen occurs, is it during the turning ON of the computer or during the windows xp logo appears on the screen?

a blank screen could be caused by the following: defective video adapter, corrupted video driver, defective memory, unknown device causing the issue like the hard drive, optical drive or other peripheral installed inside the computer.

try also using an external monitor
