Video issue This just suddenly started happening out of the blue. /*/*/*/* What happens /*/*/*/* - When i boot up my computer everything is normal, but after a few minutes a grid of little blocks begins to flash. It starts just as a few scattered dots here and there, and progressively gets worse the longer the computer is on until the whole screen has like a flickering grid all over it. And performance is terrible, the computer is slow. Eventually the computer stalls/freezes and has to be reset. /*/*/* I think... it must be overheating some where, but where? the video card, CPU, or ram? /*/*/* What i have tried... - Tried to uninstall then re-install updated video card drivers. no help - Tried switching the video card PCI slots. nothing different *** also there is a red light on the motherboard between the PCI slots, does this mean anything?*** ________Hardware_____________ Albatron K8SLI socket AMD 939 AMD 64 3000 1.8G 1G DDR 400 dual channel corsair value select Ram Xfx Nvidia 6800GT 256M Rosewill 500W PSU 320G SATA HD 120G ATA HD 40G ATA HD CRT monitor

3 things you need to do. if it comes up with video i have a very simple solution. no video you may have issues. what i have had happen in the past is if this happens it means that the cpu fan is not secured onto the board all the way. you need to reinstall the fan untill it is all the way on and it has not wiggle room at all. if thats not the issue and you think you are sure of it. when it starts go into the bios and cmos and look for where it shows the temp of the cpu. if it shows it is heating up fast that means that it is not on properly enough yet. and if that doesnt work then you need to make sure your version of windows is not faulty because if you get a blue screen really quickly it means you need to reinstall windows. all of that fails and there is no video. *********** board or power supply are most likely fried and you can take all the ram. the processor and any peripherals you have off and bring it to your comp scrap area and get rid of it.

Goes emiediatly from dos to blue screen over and over

You have one of possibly two issues. Issue one bad memory or memory slot. Test each memory chip individually, one will probably cause the computer to blue screen and that will be the bad chip. If they all cause a blue screen, test in a different slot. If this works then you have a bad slot, if not the try issue two.

Issue two, your OS has become corrupted. Do a fresh install of windows (wipe everything out), then reload your drivers and all software.

hope this helps

Most laptops have 3 video-display options:

Test your PSU or replace it if your power supply units fan is not working your PSU is faulty

One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to detect/ boot up a computer hard drive

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions,IDE,SATA

the leads from your ((motherboard to your hard drive)) make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them there probably old and faulty
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electrical extensions or just replace them they could be faulty a computer needs its connections to continue its cycle and have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error

My system with asus p5n73-am mother board shows BSOD

if nothing else is affected and everything runs fine after this then i would be careful on what you install because this could become a serious issue this happens because the computer notices an error on startup then either fixes itself or ignores the problem write back if the problem worsens

Pc boots and stays on the black screan

The current configuration of the Skystar card is probably trying to use the same interrupt as your video or there is another hardware conflict between your PCI card and something else in the system. Boot into BIOS without the Skystar card in the machine and go to the PCI options. Tell it to reset the PnP information (actually happens on the next reboot). Exit and save the changes but shut off the computer without allowing it to boot up. Install the Skystar card and turn on the computer. The BIOS should reconfigure all of your Plug and Play hardware to automatically eliminate any hardware conflicts and the system should come up normally.
