You can get the copy count for the MF6550 by using the following procedure:
- Press Additional Functions - Press 2 - Press 8 - Press Additional Functions again. - Scroll down through the options. There will be an option for Counter -- select it and the copy count will be displayed on the screen.
This is a safety function that Canon ans Epson built into theyr machines. Normaly this problem can be solved by replacing the absorber pads (or cleaning them) however you will need a service mode tool to reset the ink count in the eprom. Search google for the specific tool for your printer.
