Question about Computers & Internet

2 Answers

Aloha, I purchased a Simpletech 160GB about 4 months ago from Comp USA. They went out of business here in Honolulu, last month. It stopped working about a week ago. THe imput slot fell inside the unit and I had a hard time connecting it, but finally did. However now it does not work at all. I need it to backup my computer. Thank you, Susan Condit 710 Lunalilo ST #1104, Honolulu, Hawaii 96813 Phone: (808)521-4255 email: C-artcards@hotmail.com

You can open up the Simpletech enclosure and check that all the cables are connected inside. If the connector fell inside then it may just be too messed up. If that is the case, you can buy another USB enclosure and transfer the hard drive from the Simpletech unit to the new enclosure.

btw: posting your phone # on the internet is not really a good idea. If you can edit this posting I would suggest you remove it.

The only way that you can recover the info on your hard disk is by taking it to a pc repair center and get it fixed, if possible.

My Crosley CR-55CR wall phone went dead six months after purchase and I cannot find anyone who will help me get it fixed. Ideas?

Inexpensive phone.... simply replace it with a new one. Should cost you less than $10, which will most certainly be less than any postage involved in returning it for repair.

How to solve simple tech 160GB EXTERNAL USB HARD DRIVE

I was having a problem on Windows 7 with the SimpleTech 160GB drive not being recognized, went to the SimpleTech site and could not find any drivers - Went to MajorGeeks and found a driver update program - watch when you install it, do custom install so as not to get new homepage or toolbar. But it scanned and found where my drivers were deficient. Updated driver and drive is now recognized

Purchased about two months ago. the external drive turns constatly making a grindin sound.

You need to RMA (Return to Manufacturer) your external hard drive. Most hard drives have a pretty decent warranty on them. Your simpletech 250GB has a 3 year warranty on it. Info on the warranty can be found at http://www.simpletech.com/support/warranty/. If you want to RMA it, click the "Technical Support / RMA Request" on the left hand side of that page.

Simpletech hard drive

Your desktop usb compatibility is not supported your 160GB. The only way to attach you 160GB is to make it secondary partition to your primary drive by opening the CPU and attach it to your IDE cable.

Don't force yourself if you cannot do it by yourself just leave it to the expert. Probable cause to damage your hard drive if it is not installed properly.

Please rate me solved if you like my solution.

Best regards,

Philip
