Question about Canon i860 InkJet Photo Printer

1 Answer

Canon i860 I have a Canon i860 printer. It was printing fine, then today the colour was all off, then when I tried the deep cleaning it just got worse. I then tried to do the head alignment, and from there it went down hill. The paper is now stuck in the printer and I have a Service error code or 5200. I can not seem to find out what that means or can I fix it. I need help!!!??? I switched from Photoshop Elements 3.0 to 6.0. The printer soon thereafter greatly reduced the intensity of blue-green color. The nozzle check yielded a brown color instead of black in the M and N rectangles but the alignment seems fine. I cleaned, then deep cleaned the inks and the ink levels are visible in all the tanks. I have spent at least 5 hours on this problem and would appreciate any help.

Have a look at the yellow cartridge. I have had trouble with inks leaking into each other...most noticeable in the yellow. I have no solution...perhaps the printhead is a piece of **** well when it works.

Cyan not printing on my Canon i860 printer. Put in new Canon cartridge. Did deep cleaning 5 times and took the cartridge out and cleaned with a swab and alcohol. No change.

There's usually a sticker over the bottom holes and maybe one over the electronics (?) make sure these are off.

Possible bad cartridge.

Nozzle for cyan blue will not cleen. photos print without blue.

Try print head cleaning first. if standard cleaning does not work perform deep cleaning. If the problem still persist you should replace your print head.

After deep cleaning the print heads, it will only print one page

This sounds like the print head alignment is not stabilized and may indicate you need a new print head ($$$). Try looking in the Service Manual.

Canon i860

Print head temperature rise [5200]

I would assume that the cleaning efforts resulted in oveheating the print heads.

Please ensure that you have sufficient ink, as ink acts as a lubricant for the heads. If you try to use them while empty it is equivalent to driving a car without oil.

Take your time..
Verify ink is in all cartridges.
Remove paper jam
let the printer cool off (heads)

Chances are the head alignment is not necessary and you are low on one of the inks...

Try this test program (Page) to isolate low colors...

I860 won't print properly

Buying a new printhead is a mighty good suggestion, it seems you have pretty well used up the maximum service life of your printhead, if i'm not mistaken. Try to reinstall your printer along with its software. Go to settings>control panel > remove hardware> then, reboot. After, rebooting, re-install your printer software and drivers.
