Sounds like you CMOS battery is FLAT, please locate and replace, it is a 3.6V flat "Cell" This may just sort you out. Checksum error is because, something is different from the stored checksum it has in memory.

There is a small silver-coloured battery, about the size of a $0.25 coin, on the motherboard.

It needs to be replaced, because it has become weak.

Turn your computer off, and disconnect the AC power cable.

Locate the battery, and note the printing on the battery -- the replacement battery must be mounted in the same orientation.

Gently, "lever" the battery out of its socket.

Buy a replacement, and push it into the socket.

Reconnect the power.

Turn the computer on, and set the time.

How do i disable the onboard video so i can install a video card

Depending on what type of computer you have there's several options but the easiest route would be this....

1) Turn your computer completely off and on.
2) When the computer is booting up look for "SETUP" or "ENTER SETUP" and press whatever key is required. (Doing this will take you into BIOS)
3) When you are in BIOS just look around for "Onboard Video:Enabled" and change it to "Disabled"
4) Save your settings and turn your computer off.
5) Install new video card.

If you have any other questions feel free to ask.

Nothing get displyaed once pc on

try and find the installation manual for the exact model of system board and verify if the front panel connectors on the system board have been connected correctly. i suspect you might have inversed the power btn and power led cables. if this is not the case, then you might want to reset your power management settings in the BIOS setup.

Computer will not load up - frozen on acer start screen?

Are you sure the monitor is plugged into the correct port? Also, check the monitor cable for bent pins. A small move shouldn't make this kind of difference. Eliminate that power strip and just plug the computer and monitor into an outlet.

Bios setup

You may have something failing in the POST (Power On Self Test). Typically, they'll just hang, or even reboot, if that's the case, but... you never know. I'm guessing that if you save and exit from BIOS, it reboots, and sends you right back into Setup again.

Start by removing or swapping out things. First, I'd do the DDRAM chips (if you can). Reseat them, and be sure they're inserted properly. Once you're in BIOS again, check to see if the amount of RAM reported matches what you have installed.

Next, if you have a video card, take it out, and switch the BIOS to use the onboard video. Also, remove any other add-on cards you have.

If none of that fixes the problem, you can find the jumper on the motherboard (should be near the battery), and set it to clear CMOS. Follow the instructions in your manual on how to do this. Once that is completed, try restarting.

Let me know how it goes.

Cheers
