Question about Sharp UX B20 Plain Paper Inkjet Fax

Fax machine not responding

We purchased this machine a little over a year ago. Last week we changed the cartridge but it continues to tell us "low ink". I replaced it again today, but it won't print me a test page. It tells me "low ink", "check paper", and that memory is full. I've unplugged the phone line and plugged it back in as well as the power cord. It will say Wait a moment and then go back to replace ink and press ink key.

We use our fax machine everyday and really need for it to work.

    Thank you as it turns out we had two different Sharp Cartridges that said they would work with a UX B20. We had been trying the UX C385; this one DOES NOT work with the ux B20 but the uxc70b does work.

H have you tried putting the old ink cartridge back in but give it a gentle shake first and see if it gives same message also what are the new cartridge are the genuine or not let me know then i can assist you further ok

    Hi just been asking around for you and it seems when the error message comes up clear the message before inserting the new cartridges ok so switch it on and if the errr message comes on then press the round button on controls and this should remove the error then insert new cartridge you can only use genuine ones to replicas as they will not work in your model of device

    Hi do you have the manual if so check page 19 on how to install cartridge make sure handset is in place else you wont be able to use the buttons on machine

    Make sure you have removed tape form new cartridge.
    Hey i just noticed you live in birmingham i also live in birmingham but birmingham in united knigdom (England)
    I hope your able to get these messages as i cant phone you as my phone provider dont allow me to call long distance calls but hopefully you can get to read this

    Hi tell me if you have the manual as they tell you in detail how to insert cartridge and the settings you need to do also if you let me know how far you get before you get error message then i can assist you further ok

I have an HP 2140 fax purchased one year ago. I have never replaced the catridge and have used the fax about once a month. Today I am trying to copy and it won't print. I cleaned the nozzle and still...

New cartridge wouldnt print but sounded like it was printing. You can check ink levels clean or align cartridge by pushing menu then tools. I cleaned contact points w qtip and alcohol. What seemed to work is putting alcohol on cartridge where ink is released and putting back into machine wet did this three times first time little dots of ink then a faint print and now it is printing must have been dried ink further then I could access.

If the Toner Low/Empty message does not automatically clear when a new cartridge is installed, use the following to clear the message manually:
1.Press MENU # 1 9 3 4. The machine should display TECH.
2.Press MENU, and ENTER. The machine should display TECH Mode.
3.Press the left arrow < once. The machine will show NEW CARTRIDGE.
4.Press ENTER, the machine will show YES.
5.Press ENTER, there should not be any Toner Low/Empty message.
6.Exit TECH MODE, press MENU # 1 9 3 4. The machine will no longer display TECH.
If Toner Low/Empty message continues, there may be a problem with the toner cartridge or the machine.

We are getting black faxes and dark grey copies

I recommend to clean out an optics. Take apart a cartridge and well blow through, clean the rollers and contacts.

If you've already changed out the toner cartridge and the problem persists, then it could be several other parts that are either defective, dirty or blocked.

You may want to contact a certified Xerox technician and have them look at the Imaging Unit Agitator Bar and the Low Toner Sensors for Cyan/Magenta. There could also be a faulty toner supply motor.

{You used the term "drum". This may indicate a roll type of toner rather than a cartridge style of toner. The following tip is for a cartridge style.}

I get much the same symptom when my HP laser cartridge is running low, and no, it doesn't have a "low toner" indicator either. I get by a little longer with mine, long enough to get out and buy a new one that is, by removing it, holding it over a garbage can at an angle and firmly tapping on it to loosen any compacted toner. I then turn it back horizontally and gently shake it back and forth to evenly distribute the remaining toner through the cartridge and reinsert it into the printer. This usually gets me nice, even prints back and extends the life of the cartridge. I can usually get a few extra weeks out of it by doing this two or three times.
