Your problem may be related to the condenser on your refrigerator. I believe the bottom plate under the door may say to clean every six months. If it has not been cleaned it will cause the refrigeration system to overheat and cycle the compressor off on its thermal protector. If the compressor located in back behind a fiber panel is hot but not running the problem may be solved by cleaning throughly. If after a shut down of 30 minutes or so it still fails to start , but just hums and clicks the problem is in the compressor itself.

Stops cooling ice melts and leaks water on the floor

That model refrigerator uses the mother control board for deciding when defrost is to take place. It has no defrost timer or Adaptive Defrost Control like other refrigerators. This sounds like *********** board part number WR55X10942 is malfunctioning. The board decides most functions of your refrigerator. Until the board is replace I do not believe the problem will resolve itself. Thanks, Sea Breeze

Frigidaire Side By Side Not Cooling

That sounds like the start relay is buzzing. Unplug and lets check the compressor to see how hot and if too hot to hold your hand on the top of compressor we need to leave it unplugged until we find out if the start relay, start capacitor, overload or if the condenser fan stops after running a short while. Water was dripping in bottom back of freezer. Coil was red hot and was sizzling as water hit it. Where did water come from? Never seen this before. I actually heard the dripping sound which alerted me to...

What you observed is the automatic defrost system at work. There is a heater coil (the red hot tube you saw) that comes on at various times to melt frost off of the evaporator coil. This cycle generally lasts 25-35 minutes and then the refrig will start back up and resume its normal cycle.
The water that melted off the coils drips into a drain pan under the unit and will evaporate from the heat and air movement from the compressor. Everything you expereinced is normal and nothing to worry about. thanks Peyton...

Freezer freezes up causing the refrigerator side not to work

you probably have a bad defrost timer. This item will turn on a hot coil to melt the ice when it needs melted. If you coils are solid ice then the cold air cant travel to the refrigerator side to cool it. This air is moved with a fan and the ice blocks the movement. Melt all the ice with a hair dryer and put the cover back on u will be good for a bout a month and if defrost timer is bad it will clogg again.

GE side by side Refrig. with evaporator iced up solid.

Yes ill be glad to help John. Your refrigerant level is fine. Remove the motherboard axcess panel on rear of refrig. Locate 3 wire blue plastic connector on bottom of board. Wires are labeled Comp, Line, Def. Jump Line to Def and see if heater gets hot. If nothing happens than replace the heater. Let me know what happens.
