Phone says I have a Verizon LG, model # VX8300. The phone says "car-kit" on background of wallpaper and now the phone doesnt ring when I recieve calls and when trying to make calls there is no sound at all, it just shows the timer that shows how long you are in the call for. I turned the volume up on all options but I cant get the phone to work. Please help!

Car kit mode means one of two things, first it could have a piece of lint or paper stuck in the charge port making it think there is a car kit plugged in, or second it could be that some moisture got into the port and its giving a indication that something is plugged in. and thats why you're not getting any sound. There is no specific setting to turn on or off 'car kit' mode you can use a paper clip or something and mess with the port a little bit to see if 'car kit' goes away or replace phone

Did you take it back to Verizon...I have 2 LG 8300 phones and they work great. See what Verizon can do for you as this is of course a Verizon phone.

call verizon it's time to find out if they can replace it or exchange it. Good luck, i have verizon and they are pretty good about this stuff so i hope they treat you well too :)

Sounds like your phone needs to be replaced. When a phone wont come off of car kit, it means that there is something wrong with it. My friend had this same phone, and verizon told her to replace it. Its an older model phone, so I'm guessing you have had it for some time. There is a chance that you could have it fixed, but it would probably cost you more to do that than to just get a new one. you somehow got it wet. bring it to your provider and they'll tell you the same.

OKAY THERE IS WHAT YOU DO:
1.GET A PIN OR NEEDLE POINT. 2.LOOK AT THE CHARGER PORT 3YOU WILL SEE THE COILS OR THE PRONGS THAT YOUR CHARGER CONNECTS TOO 4 NEXT TO THE COILS, EITHER ON LEFT SIDE OR RIGHT SIDE THERE IS A SMALL BUTTON. LIKE A CIRCLE LOOKING THING. IF YOU CAN NOT SEE IT NO BIG DEAL 5. STICK YOUR PIN INSIDE PUSH THE LITTLE CIRCLE. IF YOU DON SEE THE CIRCLE PUSH IT ON BOTH SIDE 6. YOUR DONE. 

Plase call to Phone call center they will give the information go to your nearest service center

I cannot find the initial setup tab within the menu of the vx8300! My phone is answering quick and I want to change the dtmf to long but this isn't anywhere to be found. It's almost like they hid the intial setup tab on this phone. On my wife's razr it's right after call settings but I swear it's not on the LG. Is there any other way to make my phone ring longer? HELP!!!

without the screen you wont know if the phone is locked or not make sure the phone is switched on then try ringing it from a nother phone if it rings you will need to replace the screen these can be easily brought from most smaller phone shops and they will fit it for you if it dont ring the the board is probably warped if this is the case im sorry to say that you will need to replace the whole handset try ringing your no first then try answering the phone if you can do this then replace the screen if not it is not woth bothering with as it would cost to much to replace the board hope this is some help to you..................
