To be honest with you, I've never personally seen the inside of a Viking dishwasher. But I've also never ever seen a dishwasher without a float switch.

In every dishwasher I've seen, there is a small donut or mushroom shaped thing under the lower rack that will float when the water level gets high enough. This switch prevents overfilling the dishwasher and flooding your kitchen.

If your machine doesn't have one, I'm sorry to have misled you.
