To be honest with you, I've never personally seen the inside of a Viking dishwasher. But I've also never ever seen a dishwasher without a float switch.

In every dishwasher I've seen, there is a small donut or mushroom shaped thing under the lower rack that will float when the water level gets high enough. This switch prevents overfilling the dishwasher and flooding your kitchen.

If your machine doesn't have one, I'm sorry to have misled you.

Dishwasher wont fill

The float is located just inside the door either on the left or right hand side, it's a simple float, if it's stuck in the fill position then try a gentle push to release it, and make sure nothing is under the float causing it to stick in the filled position.

Hi, I am not getting any water going into the machine when I put it on a programme. It starts and when I go back to check it 5 - 10 mins later it says its finished yet everything is still dry and dirty....

It sounds like something may be stuck under your fill switch float. This is usually located near the door, and sits in the bottom of the tub. You'll need to remove the bottom dish tray/basket to get at the float.
Usually, the float is cylindrical, with a magnet inside. It slides up and down a tube which has a magnetic switch inside, which is operated by the magnet in the float traveling by it as the water level in the tub rises and falls. The switch operates a solenoid operated valve which allows water into the tub. This float switch also tells the system when all the water has been pumped out after a cleaning cycle in some dishwashers.
Occasionally, something will get stuck under the float, such as a piece of broken dishware, or a wheel off one of the basket rollers, to name just two items. If this happens when the water level is up, it seems to the dishwasher that there is water in the tub, even when there isn't any, and it proceeds with a wash cycle, but without water, resulting in dirty dishes and a dry inside-of-the-dishwasher.
If you don't find anything under the float, make sure the float travels up and down the tube freely, as it's getting stuck on a dirty tube will cause it to hang up. Clean the outside of the tube and the inside of the float with a piece of Scotch-Brite; NEVER use steel wool, brillo, or anything else which could leave magnetic materials on the float or tube, as they could affect the operation of the magnetic switching operation.
Always check your owner's manual for solutions to this type of problem, and other good maintenance tips.
Good luck!

No water going into the dishwasher after a new fill valve

did you check the float assy if stuck in the up position it could be in full position due to soap/gunk buildup or something under it it is located towards the front by the door under the rack.

My dishwasher isn't taking in water, i've checked that the water is switched on and my inlet hose is not blocked, any ideas?

You don't state a brand or model number, so this is a bit generic: Look for a float switch which may be hanging up from accumulation of gunk on it. (generally an upsidedown plastic can shaped thing on the bottom of the dishwasher tub. (you have to take the cover off to get to the float) Another possibility would be a bad water inlet valve. (electrically open coil on valve)

I have a maytag mdb7100Aww. Dishwasher leaks at bottom of door

You definitely have to have a clean......float clean from all is very typical for the float to cause leaking problems it is an overflow switch....also drying agents...that are used...especially if any is spilled inside will foam up and cause an overflow as well as liquid detergents that are not specified by the maker of your DW....these foam also....(if to much is used)...but the float will not push down on the switch if it is completely free from gunk.
I hope this helps.....good luck...thanks for rating my effort....the Fang.

There is a float in the water collection chamber that closes off the opening below the filter. Make sure that the float is moving freely and the hole under the filter is not obstructed. Reply if this is not the problem, I have one sitting here that I can look at for other possibilities.
