Switch off power. Then open the filter cover front bottom left hand side, drop the little flap down and place a shallow container under flap. Unscrew the filter part way until water starts to pour out. repeat process until empty. Then pull out filter housing and check inside. You may need a pair of long nosed pliers or long scissors to hook and material out. Spin the paddle wheel to check the drain pump turns freely then reassemble. Open door and check the drum spins freely and there is no freeplay in the bearings and no grinding noise.
Pull the machine out and undo the two Torx 20 screws at the back each side just under the top cover and slide the cover back a little and lift off. Look for the three springs being in place. If one is off hook in drum first, then lift drum manually and slot back in place on top mount, if the spring hook has opened up, close it a little, using mole grips. Then check the belt turns the drum ok, is the belt present or come off/snapped?
Undo the 12 Philips screws on the back panel and remove panel. Look at the motor mounts to make sure not broken. Look and feel for the nuts and bolts that go through the dampers on each side of the drum, make sure they are tight, if you can turn a nut, then get spanners and tighten up securely. Put back on, have a final check to make sure there are no broken earth wire to drum problems, if so, re-terminate. This one often snaps as the drum can drop. If all ok, then replace the top cover. Now is a good time to take a quick pic with the mobile phone of the model identification label, if not just jot down the model number on paper. Finally, switch the power back on and select short spin. If the drum was loose, ie a spring come off, then the drum rattling around could have damaged the door seal, so it may leak. Door seals are relatively easy to renew. If it doesn't work, now is the time to call in an expert!

If you open the door and spin the drum by hand it should sound perfectly quiet and feel perfectly smooth. If it is not and it sounds "like a jet taking off" as some people describe it - that would probably be your bearings.
If the sound is a loud rattling sound - then something is probably loose ( usually top or bottom weights )
It would help if you could describe the noise as best you can!
