Question about Sharp AR-168D Copier

2 Answers

Service mode I just had time to replace my drum. Can you tell me how to get into the service mode so I can reset the drum, developer and maintenance counters? For the service light is still on. So I would like to reset these to see if the light will go off. I appreciate your advice. Thanks Kathy

CAUTION MAINTENANCE CALL (M2) CALL SERVICE

Replace the developer and drum/cleaning blade. Also reset the counters after replacing parts then run F8. resetting the counter with out replacing the above items cause image problems. The copier uses the counters to determine voltages on the drum you tell the copier drum is new and it is still old will cause problems.

Hi,

Thanks for choosing FIXYA.

Maintenance TA is indicating the machine has reached its 100K scheduled service interval. It requires Transfer Belt Unit, Usually Black Drum & Developer, any feed rollers wornout replaced, any old firmware updated to latest version, and a general clean & check. It is reset in service mode once these parts are replaced.

Have a nice day.

I replaced the drum unit to my Minolta DI2510 copier; but the message to replace the drum unit has not gone away. How do i reset the message?

You can not just reset the drum counter. When you reset the counter then the ATDC reference value is also reset. This will throw off the developer to toner ratio and your copies will usually become light or overtoned. The developer is supposed to be replaced at the same time the drum is replaced. The drum count is then reset and the F8 function in the service mode is run to calibrate the new developer. If you do not perform this procedure in the right order and correctly you will end up with at best poor copy quality. I would recommend calling a service person out to change the developer and then reset the counter and do the F8 procedure.
Good Luck and Thank You for using Fixya.

On my bizhub 250 copier, there is a message stating " Please change PC Drum" My question is, How do I change PC Drum?

This is a service technician performed function. The PC Drum unit is changed by removing the whole imaging unit and then removing the drum section and changing it out. At the same time the developer needs to be cleaned from the developing unit and replaced with fresh developer. The drum counter is then reset using the service mode and then the new developer must be calibrated using the F8 mode. So in this machine's case, this is just not a pull out the old unit and plug in a new one.
If you find the "right" service guy, he can come in and reset the drum counter and do the f8 without changing either the drum or the developer. This can sometimes get twice the life out of the unit. Copy quality can degrade a bit towards the end of the second cycle.
If you just reset it your looking at around $100. If you do everything that is called for then the cost is more like $350.
Good Luck and Thank You for using Fixya.

Panasonic DP-8020P Machine Maintenance count reached.

yep. as long as the print quality is good and stable, and the toner consumption is good (8K to 10K of pages per bottle) you can just reset the maintennace count at f7-03 on service mode. probably your machine count reached at 120k. :)
