Printer won't print. It will copy but will not print self-test page. I have checked all connections and everything OK. On the small screen on the printer there are two small icons in the lower left corner. Too small for me to make out what they are. Was working fine last Saturday but on Sunday--nothing.

I think that the Drivers have failed to communicate.Just try the steps below.
1.Right click on MY computer ->Properties->Hardware->Device manager.
2.You will get Device manager window popping out.
3.Scroll down to "Universal Serial BUS controllers".Click on the (+) sign.
for the "USB Composite Device" and right click on it, click
Uninstall.(IMPORTANT NOTE:wE HAVE TO UNINSTALL THE PRINTER'S USB
COMPOSITE DEVICE, TO KNOW WHETHER IS THE PRINTER'S USB COMPOSITE
DEVICE, RIGHT CLICK ON USB COMPOSITE DEVICE AND PROPERTIES,look for wat
location says, Eg -LOCATION : HP Photosmart c4100)
5.Disconnect the USB and reboot the PC.
6.Connect the USB after reboot, you will get popup "Found new hardware".Then the Drivers will be installed Automatically.

Are you able to make copy from printer or print test page ? If you are not able to make copy from printer or print self test page Check if the cartridges are not empty. If they have ink, follow the steps below
1. Disconnect the power cable from back of printer 2. Wait for 10 seconds and re-connect the power cord to printer.

Are you able to print Self test page from printer ( standalone ) or able to make a copy ? if you are able to make copy/print self test page from printer, this issue is with Printer Drivers, You can uninstall and reinstall the software ( download the latest software and drivers from HP website )
If you are not able to make copy/print self test page from printer, it is issue with printer/cartridges... you need to re-align the printer
to clean/align cartridge On Printer Front panel Press - Setup Button ( press ok) Press - Tools ( Press Ok ) Press - Clean Cartridges ( Press OK ) And/Or Press - Align Cartridges ( Press OK )
First print a self test page on the printer and check if you have black print on it or not.
To do that Go to your printer :-
Press Setup button -->Go to print report-->hit ok--> use arrow keys and choose the self test page.--> hit ok.
If you have the self test page fine then try to make a black copy from the printer.
Put a black font printout on the scanner glass facing downwards. Press copy black
Check if you have the black ink working.
If yess then there is some thing on the system you are doing wrong. May be the printer properties needs to be set or some settings needs to be checked.
If no then try to clean he ink cartridge and try to align the cartridge on the printer.
To align Do this
Press setup-->use arror keys to navigate to tools -->and choose the option align cartridge or align printer.
If you do not find the option in the tools option try looking for it in the print report...
On the computer Go to printer under control panel and right click on the printer and go to print prefernces --> go to the TAB called colors and under color options -->choose print in greyscale--> and under that choose the Black only option. --> hit apply and then hit ok.
you could print a self test page from the printer, you could find the info of no copies printed in that page.
steps to print self test page from the printer are
presss seetup button on the printer and then press 2 and then 4
Press and release OK and CANCEL buttons on the unit and release. This will print a self test report. Check the timing. It should not take more than a minute to print a self test page. If it does, please let me know.
As you are using HP officejet 5610 printer, so perform the following steps on the printer to print a self test report to check the functionality of the printer.
Press Setup on the
All-in-One then Press 2 then press 6.
If you are unable to perform the above steps, then try to make a copy using the scanner glass ( By placing a text document face down on the scanner glass and then press color copy button.).
If the printer make a copy or prints the self test page, then it confirms that the printer is working fine.
The issue could be with the software side. However, if the printer again prints the blank page, when you try to make a copy or printing a self test, then the issue is with the print cartridges.
Be sure that you are using the Hp genuine ink cartridges not refiled nor re-manufacture. Check the expiry date printed on both the print cartridges.
If all are correct, then perform the below steps to clean the print cartridges.
1. Using a clean, dry lint-free cloth (a coffee filter works well), wipe the cartridges , from the top to the bottom. 2. The contact area of the cartridge should be rubbed briskly to remove the waxy lubricant material from the gold contacts. 3. The contacts inside the printer may also require cleaning. Using a clean, dry, lint-free cloth, gently wipe the contacts, from the top to the bottom.
Then perform the below steps to power cycle the All-in-One unit.
1. Verify that the unit is switched on. Disconnect power cable from All-in-One
and also from wall outlet. 2. Wait 30 seconds. 3. Plug in the power cable
to All-in-One and also to wall outlet.
Then insert the print cartridges and try to make a copy and check for the result.

The slow printing issue can occure even if the cartridges are out or low in ink try to check the print function by the stand alone unit by printing a self test page
Here are the steps to print a self test page:
On the front panel of the product, press Menu (or Setup) .
Press the Right Arrow until Print Reports displays, and then press Enter, Start, or OK .
Press the Right Arrow until Self-Test Report displays, and then press Enter, Start, or OK .
If the self test page takes less time to print and if all the color blocks and black block print fine the ink level are fine.
if the time for self test is also more try to clean the cartridge contacts and replace the cartridges if needed this will fix the issue.

If the issue is still un fixed try to set the print directly settings in the printer properties
Click on start >> control panel >> printer and faxes >> there look for the HP printer icon with the check mark and right click on it and select properties and then click on advance tab and under it select the print directly to printer and click on apply and ok to save the settings.
Once done try to print and check with the issue.
