Vax hoover, it has sucked up a piece of cellophane and stopped working have changed fuse but still nothing anything else we can do

There may be a thermostat at the motor, it is supposed to protect the motor if it gets overheated. It may have opened up and it will have to be replaced if this is the case. You also need to remove the clog if you haven't already done so.

I had the same problem. It looks like the seal on the lid on the bottom of the cylinder has fallen out when it was emptied. There is no longer a proper vacuum being created so you don't get the cyclone effect and the dirt doesn't collect where its supposed to. it just clogs up the filter. I put sellotape to seal the lid and it works fine.

Take the motor out and check the fan, outside of that, you may have to replace the motor.

Not too good, but there are motor problems with these models all the time. Personally I do not know it can be fixed without replacing 3/4 of the machine, which can be pricier than a new higher quality sweeper.
