Question about Viking 24 in. Professional Series VUD141 (Ultra-Premium) Built-in Dishwasher

Wash motor My dishwasher was working fine but the timer went out. It has sat there for about 1 year and I have now replaced it. It now cycles through but no water ever comes out to wash. I had an different dishwasher that we use to have at a lake house that would sit there over the winter and all I had to do was reach underneath and spin the little finned wheel and it would there something like this on a DRU141 model? I just have a hard time believing that it is that when everything was working fine except for the

No luck finding the float valve. There is nothing that looks like a mushroom or has a cap on it. It is totally flat inside except where the spinner thing is. The only thing under the the bottom rack is a collection area for water. When I close the door it sucks all the water out of that area first, then the water flows out of the side of the wall on the right and then it sits there and hums. The spinner things don't spin and nothing moves.

When a dishwasher doesn't get used, the gunk under the float switch dries up. Get that thing moving again, and you'll be back in business!

I the bottom of the tub - it's mushroom shaped, under the lower rack.

Ah! it is draining and filling! You have an issue with the wash motor. The seals could have dried up, leaked some water, and froze the motor.

The fact that it hums means that the motor is getting power. If you're lucky, you can unjam the wash motor manually and it will work again. Worst case is, you'll need a new wash motor. (It should come with new shaft seals.)

    Good luck!

I'm really sorry, that's where my knowlege of dishwashers in general leaves off and where specific knowlege of Viking dishwashers is minimal.

I would begin by removing the toe panel. the largest motor will be the wash motor. You may be able to reach something non-conductive into the bottom or the back of the motor and give the cooling fans a spin.

I have to warn you, some dishwashers allow access to the components inside (without major hassles,) and some don't. I'm not sure which one Viking will be.

Samsung dw does not advance to next cycle

Does it work properly if you advance the switch through the cycles by hand? If yes, the cycles are all fine, the timer motor that drives the timer is bad.

I have a model 665.15831791 When it fills with water it does not go into a cycle, it automatically discharges the water

It could be two things causing such problem: no power to the wash pump motor or the motor itself is bad. Remove the wire plug from the motor and check for the 120V when the timer is on wash cycle. If there is no power then check the wires and the plug at the timer. If this is not an issue replace the timer.

If there is a proper power to the motor then the problem with your dishwasher is a bad wash pump motor. If your dishwasher is less then 5 years old then it could be under limited manufacturer warranty. Call kenmore with the model and the serial numbers and they will tell you. If the dishwasher is more then 5 years old I do not recommend you to repair it yourself. I've seen many times when it's not possible to install the pump back after repair because the plastic tub got warped.

here is the link to the schematic diagrams for your dishwasher ... you can also order for timer and other parts if need be from the same link as well

Kenmore Dishwasher 587.15163401 knob stuck mid-cycle

See if it is stuck on a water heat cycle. if the heater circuit or the thermostat is not working properly it will continue to run looking for a rise in temperature. If these are in working order the timer it self could be sticking and not advancing.

Hi my hoover 6612 dishwasher does its pre-wash but then when the light for wash comes on it does nothing. I wondered if it might be a capacitor which needed replacing but I can't find one - any ideas??

Check the float switch inside the tub, it should move freely up and down.

Check the harness to the motor

Check start capacitor on the left side of the wash motor

Problems Keeping the cycle going

On the back of the selector switch there is a timer motor or clock motor assembly. The gears wear out or the motor has lost its ability to go through the cycles. Replace it and you should be fine.

Dishwasher will not start.

You more than likely have a faulty motor on your dishwasher.  This would be the main motor that pushes the water through the spray arms inside the dishwasher.
There should be a tech sheet behind the control panel of your dishwasher or maybe behind the lower kickplate.   This will give you the readings for the motor so you can test with a volt meter.
Give this a look first.  If the motor tests good then you may be looking into replacing the timer.
Thanks, Bill

Kenmore dishwasher 58715142400 fills but doesn't wash

Motor has gone out..just like mine...Make sure u have voltage going to the motor, (disconnect the plug from the motor) and use an electric meter to make sure you have voltage going to the motor. If so the motor has either gone out or has been blocked by something! If no noise except clicking then motor has gone out. Looking at about $150 for motor.

Dishwasher Repair

Ebers, you have a seperate wash and drain motor on this model. When you remove the bottom panel the drain pump will be on the right and the circulation (wash) pump will be in the rear. You are going to have to verify that you have power getting to the wash motor. Sometimes this is difficult without removing the dishwasher. The motor may have a quick connect harness going to it that you can check voltage there. If you have voltage to the motor during the wash cycle and it's not running, well, there's the problem. If no voltage, then it's probably a timer issue. back
