Display date & time on developed pictures

Hi there,

I have had my Canon powershot A460 for about 8 months now, I have not yet figured out how to get the time & date displayed on my developed pictures. The time & date is displayed on the screen, but when my pictures are developed it's not on them. Please, please help me.

Thank you

When you say it's displayed on the screen, do you mean while it's in playback mode, it's embedded there?

If not, you will have to put your resoltion in postcard mode and make sure in menu that your date or date/time stamp is turned on.

To get to your resolution settings, turn camera on to shooting mode, hit function/set button and arrow down to the bottom left corner where it will show your resolution (L,M,S, etc) and this is where you will find postcard mode.

This setting is the only one you can use date time stamp and will show up in prints, but only good for 4 x 6 prints, anything larger will not be good resolution, it will be pixelated because it's only enough quality for a small print.

Hope this helps!

I want the date on my pictures when I have them developed. How do I do that?

The date and time (and a lot more) are stored with every picture in its EXIF metadata. Any photo viewing/editing program should be able to display this data. To print this data, please consult the documentation for whatever program you're using to print your pictures. Depending on the program and printer you may print the date on the image, in the margins, or on the back.

Unable to display Date or time in pictures taken from Canon PowerShot A720 IS

You have to select 'Postcard' for the image size -- on the same menu as L, M1, M2, M3, S, Postcard.

Canon A540

The date will only show up on the picture under a limited set of circumstances on the Canon PowerShot digital cameras, of which the A540 is one. You've probably found the Date function in the menu, but discovered that it was off, grayed out, and skipped over whenever you tried to reset it.

Date stamp will only work in "Postcard" mode. Press the Function button (labeled "FUNC SET"), then press the down button until you reach the Recording Pixels selection (usually labeled "L", but not always). It's probably the bottom onscreen selection. Use the right or left buttons to select Postcard, then press the Function button again.

Press the Menu button and scroll down to Date Stamp. Now you should be able to select "Date" or "Date & Time" with the right or left button. Press Menu again and take your pictures.

Embed Date-Canon PowerShot A530

The only way to have the Date directly on the photo is to change your picture size into postcard mode. do that by hitting function set, and going to the bottom of the options where you choose your picture size... after that do what you described above, however the option will not be greyed out... that will put the pictures directly on the photo... warning!! the reason they make it a pain in the rear is because it will be on all pictures all the time.. no way to remove after!!! you can get several photo programs that will let you insert the date on only the pictures you choose.. Or you can go somewhere other then walmart where the technicians aren't required to have them ready in an hour... yes.. speed isn't always best... and they should be able to choose it in there settings... because the Date is always in your file Data... just not being displayed.. Or go get a little photo printer and print the ones you want... average cost.. 30 cents.. a little more.. but you have the control!! and you don't have to burn and gas while doing so!! Cheers
