Chek whether the connections from the smps are right and chek whether the cables connected to the board are intact.. the smps may be incompatible with your board or will give it low power so that it cannot start.. check whether the mother board is deviod of all metal contacts and chek whether u've secured the board to the cabinet using the plastic jumpers..

Comes up no opererating system.sees hard drive and cd rom.does not read vista disk in cd rom.know cd of vista good,do i just need to change out cd rom drive?

I think your PC is trying to boot from a hard drive without an operating system.

You'll need to change the boot option in the bios from HDD to CD.

When the boot screen comes up, look at the bottom of the screen, it'll say something akin to

Select "DEL" for SETUP or F2 for boot options, you can use either, but remember if you choose to change the setup, it will be a permanent change until you reset it.

Hit the requisite button, read the screen to change "The first boot device" to CD. If you change just your boot option, your pc should then boot from the Disk.

If you decide to change the bios (setup) settings you'll need to save and exit. Unless you're very sure, just change the boot option for now.

In nova net pc with intel D945GCLF Mother board , it does not boot the system with windows, and want to flash the bios , its not supporting with usb boot, cd,dvd booting ? , then how we install windows in...

while booting up it must be giving you an option to enter the cmos setup with hitting either f8 key or del key or f10 key. Just hit the key at the appropriate time and enter the advance setup in the cmos setup and go to boot devices and select the priority you wish. In some cases the hard drive and cd rom have jumper settings for putting them in master and slave mode. just read on the drive label and set your cd rom to master and your hdd to slave and you will be able to boot through cd and instal windows.

Then check if it not boot with disk then your cd disk of windows is not bootable or faulty.

I am Having problem restoring my dell 2400

Well you may have a bad mother board or IDE port to which the HDD is connected. If the CD is connected to the same IDE channel as the HDD, move it to IDE1 which is the second IDE channel. If it then recognizes your CD, IDE0 is bad and you need to replace your board. Let me know how things are connected inside the computer.

F1 floppy diskette faliure

On booting your PC, hold down F12... this will give you a list of devices from which the PC can boot. Make sure you have them in the correct order.... it will tell you how to move them up and down

1. CD-ROM optical drive
2. HDD hard drive

After this it doesn't matter the order.

If this doesn't sort out the problem, you may have to disable FDD (floppy disk boot)

My cd rom wont boot up at start up

1) Has it ever booted from CD-ROM? If it has, go to step #2. If not, go to step #3
2) If nothing has changed (BIOS, hardware additions, etc), it's a bad CD drive
3) Check your BIOS "boot order" section. It varies from motherboard to motherboard, but all BIOS's have some type of boot sequence that you can configure. It's possible that yours may be FDD, HDD, CDROM (in that order), which means that as long as you have a working Windows computer, it never needs to boot to CD. Try changing the order and that should fix you up :)

Hope this helps :)

My Toshiba Satellite A135 is having a bad problem. it will not boot up. It says Media test failure check cable.. Does this mean my hard drive went out?

This message is primarily seen when the PC is attempting to boot from a network, and that network connection is no longer present. The error message would read PXE-E61: Media test failure / Check computer. Is this your message?

If it is, you need to go into the BIOS, and make sure that the sequence is 1) CD-ROM 2) HDD 3) FDD (if you have a floppy) 4) LAN (if you choose to leave the LAN there). Otherwise, switch option 1 and option 2. If the problem is the hard drive, however, putting the CD-ROM first will allow you to boot from your Windows CD.

Please post back if you need further help, otherwise thank you for using and rating FixYa!

Re: lg tower xp install

Hi,
the boot device setup in the bios, if you set atapi-cd rom as first boot device. then hdd second. and fdd last.
it appears that you have a faulty connection from the IDE ( 40-80 wire cable ) that runs from the motherboard Primary/secondary slot. check the cable goes from motherboard to hard-drive and is connected firmly, also check the jumper blocks ( small white plastic block ) is set to master or slave on both devices ( cd-hard-drive ) if both on same cable set hard-drive to slave and CD rom to master. if they are both set as master or slave, they will conflict with each other.
if you need further help, please mail back.

Is the 2400 Toast ???

Two main reasons why this things happen, first.. there's an error with your hardware. If you know how to diasassemble your pc, then do it. Cleaning your machine will make it work. If it doesn't, repair the operating system with your windows installer cd. Be sure to clean your cd rom or you might as well borrow or buy a new cd rom so that the installation will run smoothly
