Question about Mitsubishi WD-57731 57" Projection HDTV

1 Answer

Wd57731 won't power up

I have a wd57731 and got the replace lamp message a couple months ago. The lamp finally failed and was replaced with the one that was recommended now, but is not the one listed in the owners manual. (I was told these changed resently). After a couple on/off cycles, the tv would not turn on and depressing the reset button did not cure the problem.

TV doesnt turn on. It cycles thru a couple of times and then stops. 2 green lights and 1 red light flashing on front panel. replace lamp about a year ago

Check the filter and see if this is clogged. If so clean and reset. The processor of the projector seems to switch off power due a feedback error and must be traced.
If the lamp holder is loose fitting, if the lamp has failed or if there is problems in the power section this can trip.

Hi,

The most common cause of Panasonic Rear Projection LCD TVs not starting is bulb failure. The PT-60LC13 users manual gives some help in translating the LEDs on the front of the TV.

If the TV worked normally for a period of time (months or years) and won't start, the most likely cause is bulb failure. There is no way to measure the bulb, sometimes the bulb is visibly damaged when it fails. Remove the Lamp Assembly and look at the bulb.

If there was an On-Screen Lamp Replace warning and TV won't start, bulb has failed.

The first step with all Panasonic Rear Projection TV "No Picture" problems is bulb replacement. If that does not remedy the problem, get a technician, there are no user serviceable parts. Guessing if the ballast, power supply, controller board or optical engine is faulty is not practical.

The Panasonic Lamp Gallery shows all Panasonic models and Lamp Numbers. There is also a link to Panasonic DIY bulb and lamp replacement.

that lamp timers are only there to give you an idea that the lamp may fail soon. the tv will count to a certain number of hours and then give the message on screen. most tvs the number will be around 4000hours or so. i suggest using the tv until the lamp fails you may change a lamp that has many many many more hours when you dont need to. there is a timer that you can reset if you consult your owners manual so the message will not show up any longer.

Replaced lamp on WD57731. green light turns on then a ornage light, under lamp blinks

Please put back lamp cover, the last plastic grille that were removed to replace lamp in TV.
TV sense that lamp cover is not either put back or not fixed properly so it wont turn On. Check lamp cover and problem will be solved.
Thanks.

Just replaced bulb to a phillips, lasted one month

Most systems with lamps will have a timer. If the timer gets to a certain hour the set should warn you to replace the lamp. Once you do, you have to reset the timer. If it gets to the max it will not allow you to turn it on till the timer is reset. Check your manual or call the mfg. to see how to reset. Sometimes it's the volume up and down at the same time or menu and power at the same time. They are all different so if you have no manual it's best to call tech support to get the reset steps.

to get rid of "replace lamp" push the blue action button on the remote and the volumn down on the tv set for a couple of seconds. this has to be done at the same time, good luck.
