If you are using windows xp operating system.. you may boot in safe mode( press and hold F8 while the computer boots) and select safe mode and when you are asked whether you want to use system restore, select the last restore point created on your computer and follow the on screen instructions and restore your system to a previous date's configuration. if that doesn't solve, update your virus scanner and make a complete scan.. some trojan might be the culprit..

If you set the bios to boot from USB. Place your USB Bootable stick into the USB socket and boot from it.
Windows will find the hdd and format it before putting Windows on it.
What has happened is the hdd name is missing from the system and it requires initializing before you can see it.

Welcome to Fixya.

I see that you're having boot issues, here are some other things that you can try :
  • Ensure that the computer is turned off
  • Unplug/disconnect all USB connections
  • Unplug the ac adapter cable
  • Carefully remove the battery
  • Press and hold down on the power button for at least 10 seconds
  • Connect the ac adapter without the battery
  • Turn on the computer
If the above procedure works, then you may reconnect all devices once the computer is up and running. Otherwise, I am recommending a full operating system re install.

I hope this helps, Thanks for using Fixya.

After windows XP loads the mouse pointer freezes. It is not frozen, however, when the netbook is booting. it is an eee pc asus. thanks for any help

Start the laptop up in safe mode, remove the mouse driver and re boot the laptop. Windows will see there is no driver and load a fresh one. Assuming the driver that you have is the correct one, Asus use their own, it will work.

How to reformat asus eee pc

Normally laptops come with a restore disk(s). Simply put the disk in the drive, restart the pc and boot the pc to the disk.

If it won't say (boot to disk) automatically, simply press F2 when you turn on the computer till the BIOS loads up. Then change the boot order to CD drive first.

Once it boots to the cd the process will run automatically.

If this solution has helped you, please take the time to rate me.

I have a asus Eee pc 904hd that will not boot up

Yes press f2 , this will take you to bios page. See if your date and time are correct. If it is NOT set them using the keypad mouse (Read)
then exit say yes for changings, see if windows loads,
After that if does it again, you need to replaced the CMOS battery.
See TechGuy or Contact me.

Asus p5qc-se motherboard,intel q6600

what i would start with is this. check all the connection first to the motherboard. cables to hard drives cd/dvd players power connectors. once u have dun this and still wont work, trace back the steps b4 it started to do this. remove 1 component at a time continuously restarting the computer. once the u isolate the component replace
usually and a no-boot bios condition 3 things need to be present first. keyboard, mouse and monitor.
also. another thing i would try is this.. if u installed multiples of memory remove then to a single stick and see if it boots.
nothing worse than 1 stick of bad memory to crash every thing
