OK- Here we go. Sorry - no good news -ever- with 'self-clean' . This 'feature' is called "Self-Destruct" by most Techs. Full power flow for up to three hours destroys circuits and controls. Switches, circuits, and computers can and will fail with repeated use. Fisher/Paykel ovens will fail just like any other. If same issues as before, we have info on how to replace components. On-site diagnostics is usually required, as multiple failures can occur during 'self-clean'. Good F/P Techs are hard to come by, so get solid estimates before repairs if you go that way. Please acknowledge this post if helpful. Have more info if needed- Thanks- Ed
Remember- The only solution for this post is for me to inform you, the Asker, that "self-clean" destroys components, and an on-site inspection is needed to determine what is damaged so that you can figure out if it is worth fixing. Ask questions. Get answers. Compared to Parts and Labor, this information is free. Please acknowledge this post! Thanks for your time- Ed
Great question. Simple answer-- Try to avoid or predict spills. Use drip pans covered with foil. If there is a spill, scrape area and wipe down with mild soap and water on a cloth. Complete cleaning is not necessary. Turn on oven to 450deg. for 30mins. Safer and less costly. "Self-clean" has been around for about 50 years, but in the 80's electronic controls and the safety devices required to prevent fires became the weak link in this nifty 'feature'. Oven cleaner residue becomes a toxic smoke during 'self-clean'. Share this info with your friends. Could save them some money. Thanks again- Ed

SOURCE: Whirlpool RBS305PDQ11. After self-clean, oven won't heat up.
This seems to be a common problem with these ovens. The oven got too hot and the tco (Thermo cut off)tripped. This will have to be replaced. It is located behind the control board.

There is a overload thermostat on the rear of the oven that will have to be replaced.
Self cleaning features are not recommended by most appliance technicians.
Self cleaning causes parts to fail often.
SOURCE: whirlpool 27" wall oven. no heat after self clean
Self cleaning features are not recommended by most appliance technicians. The ovens are not constructed satisfactorily to expel the 1000 degree heat, Therefore the thermal fuses blow as well as other parts failures.
Remove the oven. Remove the rear panel. Replace the thermal fuse in the back of the oven. Use Easy Off next time.

nope - they gave me an extra year due to service issues but it is expired
nope
yup - I hear ya - I did have to call a repair guy - he said the same thing as the posts here - basically self clen is the problem - BTW the bad part is some kind of thermal limiter. Looks like a device that opens up under high heat which then stops power to the heating elements. About a 60 dollar part which is on order. The company was A&E Factory Repair service (owned by Sears) - they seemed reasonable and did coraborate your data. Thing is now that the owners manual says do not use oven cleaner - how do I clean the thing w/o using self clean?
Is it still under warranty?
