VERY Dim screen after a drop

I dropped my laptop (about 3 feet onto asphalt). Now the screen only comes on very dimly. There are no cracks or other cosmetic damage to the screen itself. I have taken apart the body, and all the wiring seems fine. Should I take it to a pro to see if the screen could be fixed? Or is the screen dead for sure and I should just replace it?

Have you tested it with an external monitor?

I would say you either have a damaged inverter board or screen baclight lamp. Usually the inverter board fails in one of the following ways:

1. When you turn on the laptop, the screen lights up for a short period of time and then goes dark. You still can see an image but it is very dark, almost invisible and definitely not usable. When you restart the laptop, the screen lights up and then goes dark again. The laptop works fine with an external monitor.
2. Your laptop turns on but the screen remains dark all the time. You still can see a very dim image outline. The laptop works fine with an external monitor.
3. The laptop screen works fine for hours or even days, but sometimes it goes very dark as it mentioned above. When you restart the laptop, the screen works fine again.

Inverter failure symptoms are very similar to backlight lamp failure symptoms and in most cases you cannot tell which one is causing the problem until you replace either the inverter board or the backlight lamp. From my personal experience, inverter boards fail more often than backlight lamps. If you have to guess, replace the inverter first.

Why my screen turns black or goes dim?

A problem is loose supression coils by falling or other components that are be heavy for the print because of the thin solderings there can be a loosecomponent or printed circuit break sometimes its not easy to find or see , you must measure to most primary components on the print with some weight , Similar it comes up with battery chargers also often happens that due to the weight is usually the small interference suppression beads and some heavier components have a too small a solder surface making them with some ease to a small fall directly and with the soldering completely break out of the printing circuit without you see something

You possibly cracked your screen or caused the ribbon cable to disconnect when you dropped it and just can't see what the error codes are saying. Is probably asking you if you'd like to start in safe mode with the beeps but you can't see it with a cracked screen or disconnected ribbon cable. Take it to a repair shop for a diagnosis.

SONY VAIO PCG-61611l has a very dim screen

Normally, this is in part due to you not replacing it with what should've been an LCD. The reason why it's dim is because those diodes are not getting the required voltage to emit as it should. LCD's work under a different concept where crystals use the light modulating properties of liquid crystals. Liquid crystals do not emit light directly as LED's, because it stand for light emitting diodes.

I dropped my laptop, white pixels turn pink

The CCFL lamp has been partially damaged and could fail completely any time. Defective CCFL backlight, it may have the following symptom: Screen flashs on red/pink and off. Picture stays on in red and slowly be come normal. Picture flickering with dim display or appear black. Picture flickering on and off. All these symptoms indicate that the LCD backlight lamp (CCFL Lamp) has reached the end of the life and all you need to do is replacing the CCFL lamp.
Connect an external monitor to your laptop and power the monitor up first then the laptop, if you see the normal Windows images then the video card and laptop is OK and the problem is definitely the backlight. Dim image and/or dark display on the laptop's LCD screen indicates a faulty LCD backlight and it could be the inverter that supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp or it is the CCLF lamp is nearly burnt out or burnt out, most likely this is the case.
The inverter can be replaced easily but the CCLF lamp is more time consuming and requires soldering skills.

06 honda civic are headlights always dim?

Well, if you truly believe they are dim, voltage drop test on the power side of the headlight circuit, and then on the ground side. Separately. If there is excessive voltage drop in the wiring, that would cause dim headlights.

If the headlights and dash are dim when u turn multiple electrical items on, then it is a bad Electrical Load Detector(ELD)

Just replaced a cracked screen in a toshiba a105-s4074....when i turn it on i can barely see the screen....it is very dim.....when i plug the old cracked 1 up it works fine....any suggestions?

If you see a dim image on the LCD screen it means you have a backlight problem.
Connect an external monitor to the laptop and power it up, if you see a clear image on an external monitor, this means your video card is OK.
