vent is not attached, blower wheel is functioning well and is not clogged. i agree sounds like an air flow issue,,just can't figure out why..gave in and called the repair guy, need laundry today! Will let you know what it was., if they can figure it out. I have already done most of the work for them

I called...they make it impossible to fix it yourself...the dryer needed to be intact to test it. How are you supposed to see what is going on if the front panel is on? Ended up being the coils. The tech. was able to use alittle hand held device to see where the problem was. really sucks!

Need to question why you think its not a venting issue, did you try without vent attached???, cuase it definitly sounds like an air flow issue. if doing that diconnected i would look into possible the blower wheel housing is not sealing correctly and your suckin the air towards it(highly unlikely) cant see the wheel coming off . gotta say air flow issue!!!

I have replaced radiant flame sensor, high limit thermostar, cycling thermostat, coil kit, and blower wheel on maytag dryer ldg9206aae, and still it takes forever to dry and is not hot enough.

if the flame is lighting like it should and you changed out all those parts did you clean out the lint filter duct and clean out the vent line?try removing the vent line from the back of the dryer and run it,if the flame stays on longer and it heats you have a blocked vent line,if the air can't move and that's all a dryer does the clothes can't dry

Maytag ldg7500aaw gas dryer. I have replaced the coils, checked the flame sensor and the other sensor on the flame tube. It still ignites then goes off.

Hi,
How long does the flame stay on? Burner parts, you may have a air flow issue, disconnect the vent from the back of the unit. run the unit. If the unit runs better, the issue is not in the dryer. If while disconnected the unit fail to still run, the problem is internal and will need to be taken apart to clean out the vent system in the door area.
Good Luck

I have a maytag Mdg5500. When I turn the dryer on the ignitor glows gas valve opens and I get flame for about 20 seconds and then it shuts down. It will then retry after about 1-2 minutes. Also the...

Hello,

While i understand that you cleaned the lint build up from the dryer,the problem your experiencing sounds like a airflow issue that is causing the flame to starve for air and the flame is blowing out. In addation to possible lint build up the things that will cause poor airflow are;

The blower wheel being bad...do you fell any air flowing out the back of the dryer?

A blocked/crushed vent..if air flow from back of dryer is their airflow close to equal volume of air flow where the vent goes outdoors?

You can disconnect the vent from the rear of the dryer temporarly and see if it works better with the vent off to check it

Good luck,i hope i have been able to help you fix your dryer,

I have a Maytag dryer (Gas) Model # MDG8506AWW. I changed the ignitor and also the coils on the gas valve, same problem. Ignitor turns on, heats up, gas valve opens burner turns on and then shuts off...

Hello,

Is their rumbling noise at start up (or was thier in the past) if so the blower wheel itn't turning and its causing the flame to sufficate due to very poor or no air flow , to check if blower wheel is problem remove vent from back of dryer and check for air that should be equal to if not better than that of a box fan you would use in your living room,if good air flow at back of dryer check for blocked or restricted vent,Again very poor air flow will sufficate the flame very quickly

If this helps please give me 4 thumbs up :)

Igniter lights, gets hot then it turns off

Check for a clogged vent, or a stretched out belt.

My dryer is taking forever to dry clothes. Very damp and a lot of condensation when I open the dryer. It's model # MDE508DAYW

Good day,
Sounds like the vent system is badly blocked, the blower wheel has stripped off it's shaft, or there is a lot of lint in the blower wheel/lint screen area.
1. Remove the vent hose and see if your getting air moving thru smarty. Maytag moves a lot of air. If O.K. test dryer with vent off for performance. Clean or replace vent hose as needed.
2. Blower wheel sheared on it's shaft. You have to remove the front panel to see if the wheel is loose. Old version had 2 screws on the bottom of the front panel. Remove, disconnect door switch wires and remove. New style (no screws on bottom) requires a putty knife forced on each corner of where the top meets the front. About an 1 1/2 inch in from the edge. Force in, releasing clip, and pulling the top of the front panel toward you. Lift off.

Should the blower wheel be bad, replace but make sure the area between the blower wheel and door filter are cleaned.

Maytag Neptune MDG5500AWW gas dryer ignites, then flame goes out

The 'radiant sensor/ needs to be replaced. This sensor tells the system that the flame is lit and everything is good. Go to repairclinic.com

Dryer ignites, then flame goe out, goo air leaving

If the gas ignites but does not stay on the gas valve secondary coil is at fault. Replacement kit includes both coils prewired. Note wire connections to original before removing as replacement kit may have different wire colors.

Maytag dryer...ignites, flame goes up and toward front of dryer. my guess is it is turning off as a safty feature. Vent off(not a venting problem) Why is it ?backdrafting?

sounds like you could have a major clog in the blower wheel. Or the wheel could be loose on the motor shaft.

The procedure to reach the blower wheel depends on the model. I can walk you through it if you post the model number. (nameplate inside door, or on the top back left behind the console.)
