Foot pedal dead, machine keeps sewing!

Yikes. my freesia 425 is posessed! it keeps sewing without my touching the foot pedal (control foot).
when the foot pedal stopped working, i pulled its plug out (on side of machine next to power chord socket) and when i put it back in, the machine started sewing slo-o-wly. on its own!! so now i have to yank out the foot pedal cable for it to stop. strangely enough,  the foot pedal responds again in this slow mode, but when i take my foot off the pedal the machine goes back to sewing slowly.
 how can i fix this?

There is no suppressor in the foot control of a 425. Only the control unit, which may need to be replaced. If the machine accelerates to full speed, it may have a problem with the "stop right" board which tells the machine whether to stop with the needle up.
You could have several problems, so go see a qualified Husqvarna repairman. You may contact Husqvarna customer service to locate the best one in your area.

I need a new "A"

Have you tried Also, I am not sure what you mean by the 1/4" . Also, my first Viking machine was a cam model and all the presser feet that I had for that machine will work on the Fressia 425. However, the 425 will go 6 mm width and the old cam machine was considerably less. So I can't use the full 6 mm width with the old feet. If you can't find the foot on any Viking dealer should be able to get the foot for you.
