My power save came on, which turned my laoptop screen off, i moved the mouse, the system started up again but the screen remains black/very dark . the only way i can see my computer screen is if i connect the laptop to my tv, but the screen still remains black. when i plug in the wire to my laptop my screen on the laptop flashes for a second but then goes back to darkness, so there is not a power issue.

It sounds like a driver recovery issue, you may have to do a hard reboot. Hold the power button in for atleast 10 seconds or until your laptop shuts down completely, wait 30 seconds then turn it back on. If this fixes the problem you need to upgrade your video driver and/or your Operating System.

Monitor goes blank less than a second after turning on.

Sounds like either there is a bad connection from the computer to the monitor, or the monitor has a faulty power regulator, causing the monitor to overheat prematurely, and shut off.

Drivers for ASUS VS229 IPS HDMI

It's possible, but it sounds more like a power saving feature is set up incorrectly. A computer monitor can be set to go dark after a specified time in these places:

  1. In the settings of the monitor itself, accessed by buttons on the monitor. Check the timeout setting.
  2. In the computer's operating system power settings. If you're using the Windows operating system, check the advanced power settings to see how long the screen will stay active when the computer is idle.
  3. In the display drivers for the computer. If you have special display drivers installed, there will be a settings application in your system. The most common ones to look for are Nvidia and ATI.
  4. In the computer's BIOS settings. This is probably not where your problem is, but you can access the BIOS settings by pressing Delete or F2 when the computer is first starting up. If you press the Escape key when the computer starts up, you should see a message that tells you how to enter the BIOS settings. Then look for a power saving feature that sets how soon to time out your display when it's idle.

I hope that helps you!

In power save mode

The monitor is not receiving signal from the computer. Is the power light on on the computer? If so - press and hold power button on computer until the power light goes off, then press again to restart. If the computer starts and you still have no picture it is most likely a video card or motherboard problem.

Mouse stopped working, but appears ok, batteries ok, can't determine problem

Hope this helps others. My mouse stopped controlling cursor but buttons worked. Problem was it would not work on a black table. Slip a piece of white paper under it and waaala! It works. I'm thinking optical mouse and dark surface might be an issue.
