PSP Problem reading disc and freezing

We wrote the other day about psp not reading disc. The hour glass stays on and the background color. then it just freezes. You suggested changing driver or gettingf cleaner. How would you replace a driver and where would you go for that? Also, they don't make a cleaner for the eye of the psp, only the umd.

Psp can not read disc

Make sure the disc (USB) is clean. Dirty and/or damaged discs can be unreadable.

If this is not the problem, your PSP isn't working right. Either get someone to repair it or return it for a new one.

No menu

Try removing the UMD media and then turning on the PSP. This is because when there is a UMD in, It wants to at least know whats in, and most likely, your UMD drive or your UMD disc is damaged.

Psp will not load in any games

"tap" not hit.. the back of the psp, (where the game goes in on the back) and see if that works.. that will usually get the laser to read the disk.. perhaps the umd is dirty..  only tap on it "lightly" when you hear it loading.. i know that sounds stupid, but it worked for me countless of times.

Hi Jleew,

You should check to see if another UMD will work first.  Also try them in another PSP.  If your sure your PSP is not reading Discs, then and only then, Clean the Laser lens carefully.  Using a strong flashlight and magnifying glass, look into the UMD drive with the UMD door open and look for debris like hair or lint, and also dirt and dust.  A black switch pokes up on the left inside the UMD drive.  Its a little black stick.  When you press down on this Black stick, your UMD disc motor should spin for  second or two.  The UMD laser lens should light up when your press this switch.  If any of this does not happen, you need to replace the UMD drive. If you need someone to do this which if you have never done it, you need some knowledge big time.

I can do this for you if you're in the USA for $55 including a New UMD drive, REturn Shipping, and 90 day warranty. Contact Repairtech@playstationclinic.com
