The volume control is either an additional function key(usually in blue or grey on existing key board or F keys) accessible when the Fn key is depressed and held while pressing the other key.

or access go to start, programs, accessories, entertainment, volume control.

you can also put the volume control on the system tray by the clock...start,control panel, Sounds Speech and Audio devices(Sounds and Audio),under sounds and audio devices select place volume icon on task bar.

Volume control is normally located on the bottom right hand corner beside the clock, just double click on the speaker icon and you should be able to adjust the volume.

Where is the cmos battery. my laptop has a bad one and can not find if the cover on the bottom with a small batt symbol has some type of ckt board under it.

The cmos battery is usually a silver round one on the motherboard. You'd need to open up the laptop completely to find it. That may prove difficult so careful not to pull at any connected leads as it comes open.

I want to use my Acer TravelMate 5710G for Skype video calling, and the built-in microphone on the top of the screen is not working. How do I switch it on?

Right click on the speaker icon in the system tray and choose Open Volume Control. In the Volume Control window, select Options, select Properties. In the properties window, place a checkmark by Microphone in the Show the following volume control properties section. Click OK. You should now see the control for the microphone. Uncheck the mute box and the microphone is now enabled.

Hi, My Name is Henry. I am one of the technicians here.

Have you tried increasing the volume from the control panel settings.

Go to Start - Control panel - Sounds

When that opens double click on the speakers/headphones. Go to levels and increase that.

I hope this helps.

Please do not forget to rate my solutions to you.

Henry

Sound problems with acer travelmate

Check the balance settings in the Volume Properties. At the bottom right of the screen you should see a Volume icon. Right click and select 'adjust volume properties'. In the box that shows up, adjust the slider bar to middle under the 'Balance' column.

If that does not work, then there could be a defect with the internal speakers. Since you only just bought the laptop, you should be able to get it replaced under warranty.
