Re: ds power problems
Mmm not exactly because if you plug the charger back in it will go orange again, so my guess would be that the ds doesnt stay charged for a long while, you can charge the ds properly when it is shut off but it does needs to be charging at least 8 to 10, you want it to last longer, play a game till the power goes just dnt save anything incase the ds shuts down while saving, otherwise it can corrupt the game and possibly the ds

The issue is not with the fuses or with the battery. That end is working properly if the light stays a constant orange. The issue is with the other end, how the system powers on. Check the power slider (on mother board) or the L2 inductor (located below the slider). Chances are the tab on the slider has broken off or the L2 slider broke off from the motherboard.
I have seen this happen when someone plugs the wrong charging cord up to the DS lite, Is there any chance some one did this to your DS lite.It sounds also as if the battery is not making proper connection.
REmove the battery from the compartment
inspect the connector on the battery and where the battery connects to the DSlite.
Wipe thee connections off some way. I suggest some contact cleaner for bith the battery and Battery compartment connections
Try the DS lite again with the battery installed.

Sounds like a battery problem honestly. These batteries have problems with the cells in them going bad.
Best way to know if its the battery, try another known working one in your DS. If it charges all the way and turns green, then you know its a problem with your original battery. If you put another known good battery in the DS and it doesn't charge it all the way up, then you know its a problem with the DS.
What is the orange charging light doing? If it is just flashing on, or only staying on or a minuet, that means you need a new battery. The orange light foes on when the battery has been charged to its maximum capacity. After each charge, the capacity is decreased. So if the orange light is on for only a short time, get a new battery.
if yr DS is less than one year old, call nintendo and ask for an advanced replacement.... they are good about it and will explain the whole process to you....the number is 1.800.255.3700.... i think it is option three for DS problems, then zero, and the will set it up.... ive had it done like three times....
I think that this problem is caused by either f1 or f2 fuses being blown. The other problem mentioned where the green light comes on for a second then goes out again is usually caused by the cable connecting the top screen to the motherboard, it is either broken, damaged or incorrectly seated.
