Question about JVC GR-DVL100 Mini DV Digital Camcorder

1 Answer

Gr dvl100e I am interested in adding a headcam to my camcorder but it only has DVout plug, How difficult is it to get it converted. Does it require a hardware fix or can it be done simply by changing software settings. The unit is over 5 years old and way past its warranty so I am not worried about it being covered.

I just recently got a JVC GR-SXM37 Camcorder from a family member and i was wondering if this thing connects to my computer?

No, not directly.
You would require an A/D Converter box.
Use analogue cables to connect to the A/D Converter inputs and a firewire cable to the output that goes to the computer.
There are 4, 6 and 9 pin firewire connections these days so you have to determine what the various equipment uses.

I HAVE JVC GR-DX307 AS - how to save the video on my laptop or how to save it on dvd

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

To save the video on a computer, a firewire connections must first be established from the JVC GR-DX307 AS to the appropriate firewire port of the laptop (assuming it has one or through a PCMCIA firewire adapter card if required). In the camera, the FireWire/DV port is located beneath the mode dial on the left side of the JVC GR-DX307’s body. To access the FireWire/DV port, the LCD monitor must be first opened.

Soon as that connection is established, you can use Windows Import Video (Vista) to capture / download the videos.

Alternately, the A / V port of the camera maybe used to connect to a DVD Recorder for direct, realtime copying & burning. For the disc to be playable in another machine, it must be finalized.

Good luck and thank yu for using FixYa.

I have jvc GR d720 dv camcorder but unable to connect .. driver required ... i have firewire send me in khairnar.abhijeet@gmail.com

No driver required for Windows XP. I simply plugged in the camera via FireWire. Windows automatically recognizes it as a digital video device. Then I started up Windows Movie Maker and followed the wizard to capture the movie from my digital video device. It was really easy.

E04 Error

Eject tape leaving cover open and remove battery. Re-insert battery and re-insert tape also leaving cover open. Keep repeating this process until eo4 message disappears. This worked for my GR-DVL100e after about four repeats. After getting your camcorder operational, they say it is good practice not to leave tape in camcorder when not in use.

BURN HOME VIDEO TO DVD

Assuming that your camera is not equipped to interface directly with your PC, here are the steps to take to get your videos from VHS to DVD:

- Purchase a video capture device.
A cursory websearch garnered once for $50.00 here:
ADS Tech Video Xpress
http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1759,1902901,00.asp

- After setting the device up, use the bundled software to convert the video file into DVD format and then burn to disc, using your favorite burnig software. Be sure that it is burning in the VIDEO_TS/AUDIO_TS format and not just copying the .avi to the DVD.

If you would like for me to elaborate on anyt of these instructions, please don't hesitate to contact me directly at likwidstate2@hotmail.com. Good luck and, again, let me know if there's anything else I can do. I think you'll be just fine though as this process is fairly straightforward...just time-consuming.

Help Needed for JVC GR DVM 76

Help Needed for JVC GR DVM 76 This model looks like it is a couple of years old. Yes it is NTSC. But it does have a firewire port which you can use to import your video to you computer, where you can convert to PAL and burn to a DVD. A stand alone converter to convert from NTSC to PAL is very expensive. John
