When im playing a game or a dvd on my ps3 i only have background noise thats it. i cant here people talking on the dvd just the background sound. what can i do to fix the problem?

ps3 checked
and are you sure you
hooked up your audio and
sound wire hooked up right and
if that doesn't work than try using
a HDMI cord it really helps............

on some dvd players and surround sound systems have a thing called DRC (dynamic range compression) you can us that and it will help it a little. i have come across the same problem but im after a digital on to run with plex or vlc on a mac. im having to route it through protools to use a compressor on there, but thats eating my resources.
Hi, it sounds like your hard drive isn't booting up properly. Try taking it out and putting it in a different PS3. If it does the same thing then you know your HD is shot and you need a new one. Please note that you will be asked to format your HD when you put it in a different PS3 or try to put it back in yours, so be prepared to lose all your data.

Unless you have a technical background in
electronics there's nothing I would suggest doing. A firmware update
and or CD /DVD cleaner disk will do nothing for your problem. I've
fixed more than 100 PS3's with this exact problem so I know exactly
what I'm talking about.
harddrive is not posting. your icon information and xmb menu is stored on partition 1 of harddrive..try to change hardrive or they may be bridged connection on SATA controller
ya you gota go the, assories, the system sounds, or something like that. You need to make the Logtec your mic and headset. Then it will just work, open mic no button to push on COD4. I think it may be adjust sound levels, or something to do with sounds under the assories settings.
The problem with that is the PS3 that you bought is tuned for Japanese dvds and games, You may have to get your PS3 modded to support the French games. However I am unaware of the legality of having your PS3 modded.
