Make sure the sound is not muted, some laptops have volume controls on the keypad that are used with the function key.
you may need to re install the sound driver.

Sound card not working

Dear, it simply shows that your sound card driver is not included in the Vista autodriver list, so, you need to contact the vendor to get the compatible version of sound card driver for window vista.

I Can not setup drive of this sound card for Windows Vista Ultimate. Please help me

Please check if the sound driver you're installing is compatible / supports the Windows Vista Ultimate OS, or it is for XP or lower version OS, if not, then you have to get the updated Driver of your sound card which is compatible to Windows Vista OS. best regards

G'day trex440,

Sounds like you've got a corrupt windows.
Laptop brand model?
What version of windows are you running. eg xp home xp pro vista etc.?

Try a chkdsk command first via your windows disc.
boot from your windows disc for now.

Hi got a acer 5220 notebook it had vista installed i formatted it 2 xp but some drives dont work i have not got a cd for vista what can i do?

What drives don't work? It is probably just some drivers. I would recommend finding the drivers and using XP, but if you want to put Vista back on... You can borrow a Vista DVD (Vista won't fit on a CD) from someone you know that has one. You should have a Vista COA (Certificate of Authenticity) on the bottom of your laptop with your 25 Digit Product Key. All versions of Vista are on every Vista disk, so when you put your product key in, it will install the correct version.

    Hi,

In some versions, there is a manual volume control. Pls verify if your versions has one. If so, have you tried turning the analog spin-wheel for adjusting the volume? This would be at the front where the headphone and microphone ports are as well.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

    These are the system requirements:
    OS - Windows XP/Vista
Processor – XP: 1.8 GHz or faster / Vista: 2.4 GHz or faster
Memory – XP: 1 GB RAM / Vista: 2 GB RAM
Hard Drive – 7 GB (14 GB required for Digital Delivery)
DVD Drive – 8 SPEED (not required for Digital Delivery)
Video Card – 128 MB with Pixel Shader 2.0 support*
Sound Card - DirectX 9.0c compatible
    DirectX - Version 9.0c (included)
Online Multiplayer – 512 Kbps or faster
    Input - Keyboard, Mouse
This download is not supported on FAT16 and FAT 32 file systems.

*Supported chipsets: NVIDIA GeForce 6200 or greater (GeForce 8800 recommended for DirectX 10); ATI Radeon 9000 or greater. Laptop versions of these chipsets may work but are not supported. Updates to your video and sound card drivers may be required.

I think you'll need a better Video card.
