Have your pc updated with klite mega codec pack so that youll be sure that the data from your camera will be shown on your computer.

you can also try and use picasa 2 from majorgeeks.com

this will help you identify where your pics and vids are on your computer.

A friend gave me a panasonic 700x digital zoom mini dv I have taken video on tapes I would like to transfer it to my PC via firewire but windows will not detect the panasonic.. what will I do? Thanks

You need to install the software that comes with the camera.
You need the drivers for the camera, and the software required to play the video format as well.

Sofware jvc type gr-d53ag

What is the problem with the camera? If it is to transfer the video and photos.
USB can be used to transfer photos.Use Firewire instead of USB for video. For video you can use Windows Movie Maker as your capture/editing program using Firewire.Hope this helps.

I need drivers for JVC GR-Dv500 camera

GR-DV500 is a miniDV vcam w/c must be FIREWIRE**-connected to a pc to upload video thru video capture or video editing* application while vcam is on playback. Before cable** purchase, note: Firewire port of vcam is 4pin...check the firewire port of PC whether 4 or 6 pin. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Firewire

Normally, the drivers are bundled with your computer OS, such that when the vcam is connected, the vcam is recognized by the video editing programme.

For starters, free Windows Movie Maker* (XP-wmm2 & Vista-wmm6) provides simple & easy way to learn the ropes < click help for details>. Upgrade to other video editing app http://video-editing-software-review.top... accdg. to need & skill level

Video Editing Process
>>> open wmm- start/all programs/wmm->TASK pane
..Step 1. Capture/Import video files (+pics, music) to be edited
..Step 2. Edit- drag/drop files->timeline & enhance w/effects, transition, music & titles
..Step 3. Finish (render)- save Movie file, also save Project* file
..Step 4. Share-burn to CD (to DvD thru a DvD authoring app)

Im trying to import videos from my mini dv tape on my digital Video camera JVC GR-290u i plugged in a usb cord from my camera to the computer but nothing came up. when i switch from video mode to memory...

As it's a DV (Digital Video) camera you should use the IEEE 1394 Firewire socket if it has one. Then use a DV capture program.
If you dont have a Firewire port on your PC you can buy a card like this one which will connect you Camera to your PC.

Moving Video from my camera to my PC

You will need third party hardware and software in order to transfer moving video from your camera to your PC. Depending on what camera you have, a few different options are available to you. For more information on IEEE 1394 connectors locate the websites of manufacturers of this hardware. The following manufacturers firewire products were tested with JVC camcorders: Pinnacle Systems, Belkin, Orange Micro, Digital Origin, Ratoc . Please be advised that compatibility of JVC camera with firewire card may also depends on your particular computer specifications/hardware settings. Even though we tested the above hardware and bundled software there will be always exceptions and JVC doesn’t guarantee that computer, firewire card and JVC camcorder will interface flawlessly in everybody case.
