Question about HP Pavilion dv6000z Notebook
Working fine for 2 years then cuts out totally.
now will not boot? removed battery and tested ok, so put back in. removed under carridge and looked at cooler. on power up the fan doesnt move even with just a power up, usually a glitch or movement due to current.(none). checked the components such as cpu on another machine ok. changed and removed rom still nothing. the power lights up on the laptop when cord in but will not boot. i have also put the hd in another laptop and saved the contents so that rules that out.

Well yes the motherboard does cost about that if you want the Tech to warranty it. What do you expect them to do give you a 2nd hand board and you will still want 12 months warranty. Sorry but I'm a tech and I get this all the time, and to be honest the amount of profit from a job like this. I would preffer the customer to take it back and buy a new one, but the customer is always right, right.

I had exactly the same problem, I lost all of my uni work (not impressed) However I managed to wipe it and start again. The battery hasn't worked since though & keeping it plugged into the mains is a pain in the ***! Can't find a battery for the MIM2230 model. Can only see 2030 batteries for sale at around £85.00 which for a 4 yr old laptop seems a lot.... (as well as not being the right size! Can anybody help please!

Check the power pack
mine has recently done this and it is down to the powerpack not working, check to see if the light comes on, on the powerpack, if not invest in a new power pack for it

Ive seen that kind of thing before on a Compaq presario 700 there the problem was mainboard maybe you should change that. regards
