I hope your not talking about the wireless router.....

unplug your computer from the modem, and link the modem's Ethernet port to your router's WAN port (this is important). Once you have that in place (and you may see a WAN status light come on), plug your computer into one of the other Ethernet ports using another Ethernet cable and see if you can get a connection........

Trying a add another desk top to an existing Belkin wireless G router at home. Right now there's a desk top and laptop working off this router.Try several times and still can't connect to internet.

Make sure the Belkin wireless is the only device directly connecting to your internet service provider's router/modem. Usually that port is labelled "WAN" or even "Internet". The Belkin should have extra ports/jacks for WIRED connections, right? You then connect the PC into the other remaining ports/jacks on the Belkin (if they're wired) or just use the wireless for the laptop if the laptop has wireless. After getting the wireless going, though, you should lock it down by using WPA encryption key if possible.

consult your manual. go to the wireless security and enable "wpa2" most secured but will hinder some performance issue. and pick a "passpharse or key"

Opening router port 5001 of Belkin F5D7230-4

you need to find out your "Default Gateway", which will be the ip address of your router. To do this go to start, then run and type in cmd... you will then get a black window open... in that window type in "ipconfig".... you will then get a host of information about your network... somewhere on this screen towards the top you will see the address of you "Default Gateway" - you need to then type this into your web browser to access your route config pages...
