...my next solution is look for another S500 in ebay and swap the CCD cmos. I was NOT lucky the first time but I will keep on searching in ebay again...$8 was not bad for a first try. will keep you posted.

If the photo shoot out show white , the obscure (quality variation), and even horizontal line ( white lines), and so on over-exposure cases, even if the use of anti-tremor, set to default values are invalid, because the camera shutter fault.

It's need repair camera machine shutter.

No sorry the ccd on the casio is on the back of the lens like most digital camera's the lines are most of the time because of a flaw in a diode in the ( charge coupled device ) witch is part of the Image sensor.

Horizontal lines across photo images - video is ok

Hi there:
The only time I have seen horizontal lines in the pictures, it was a prelude to the CCD sensor failing. Sounds like a CCD sensor problem. If the CCD sensor is causing the problem, it will get worse soon. Usually the next thing to happen is that the colors will shift toward pink.

I suggest you phone Panasonic support and tell them the problem and that you suspect the CCD.Ask for a repair quote for a CCD replacement. If the product is under warranty.

In order to correct this issue, the repair facility needs to replace the CCD. This is not something you may do on your own; check this article for additional details:Bad CCDs. This, isn't a good new, but hope helps to solve it.

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Thank you for using FixYa, have a nice day.

Cannon PowerShot A80. Pictures come out with red tint and what appears to be horizontal lines across complete image. However, record video without problem.

If camera shows previously taken pictures in playback mode and does notshow live view to take fresh pictures then it is ccd imager chipfailure. CCD imager will be replaced in your Canon A80 camera.

Nikon coolpix horizontal banding

It's quite likely a manufacturer error which Nikon will fix for free. Go to http://www.nikonusa.com/email_images/nikonusa/service_advisory/coolpix.html
I just got mine back - took about five weeks because they were out of stock on the CCD (Charge Coupled Device) that they had to replace. Don't give up on the camera. It's worth having it repaired since all it will cost you is to send it to them. Have had the camera four years and it's been to Europe and the Caribbean with us.

Horizontal lines

I have the same problem with my camera and it appears to be a well known problem with this camera and some others models beside of canon's: The problem appears to be caused by a defective CCD integrated in the camera. The CCD is not very resistant to various enviromental factors such as humidity and changes of temperature, causing the "porcelain" cover of the CCD "brake" and make a contact failure or something like that. The fact is that Canon, Sony and some other brands annouced CCD Repair "or" replacement programs totally free of charge to the cameras presenting this problem. To identify if this is your problem, your camera must show at least one of these symptoms: *The images in screen LCD present/display a very noticeable dye towards some color. *The screen is completely black. *The images are corrupted or distorted. *The images have horizontal lines or bands. *The images have vertical lines or bands. - The problem appears because the type of glue that was used in the manufacture on the part of Sony, is sensible to the heat and the humidity, causing that the sensor separates of its base and creating failures in the connectors of the CCD. In a publication made by Canon Asia they annouce: Affected products that exhibit this phenomenon will be repaired free of charge, regardless of the warranty status, if disconnection of the internal wiring of the CCD is confirmed. which means, that at least in these places, Canon will free repair the cameras affected by this problem after even expired the guarantee. I hope this information is useful for you. Please rate my solution. Anyway you can check these sites up (in spanish but try google translator): http://www.faq-mac.com/mt/archives/020325.php http://www.foto-digital.com.mx/2005/10/14/konica-minolta-notifica-problemas-en-camaras/ http://www.ayerpm.cl/victor/blog

Fuji finepix s602 horizontal banding

OK I know I'm very late posting this, but should anyone else wonder, this is typical of a dead CCD, typically very expensive to fix. Sorry.
