Car won't start. Dead as a hammer. Bought a circuit test light and it fails just the one on the battery alone. disconnected and reconnected battery cables and tried again, no luck. I have a red top and it was put in just months ago. After letting it sit for about 3 weeks, i went out to start it and it didn't have much juice. Went to start it a few days later and completely dead. I KNOW the battery is good. What the heck is the problem?
You have a red top thats the problem
read the lit on the battery they are not designed for your uses
if you want a battery that can take abuse put in a deep cycle or a reg led acid but the sealed gell cells are not designed for under hood use in the long term look at the charging cycle required on the owners manule it it self is a pain in the ***
the optima red top is a piece o SHI... it dies for no reason i bought a new one and it died took it back got a replacement it died they replaced it than the third one died got pis_ed off bought a deep cycle marine battery dam thing is 8 monthes old and car starts every time without a problem and yesterday my 2002 suzuki ario popcan of a car boosted a ford F450 super duty and it started right up with just a strait boost from my zook go buy a deep cycle there extream duty and will allow the car to sit for months at a time and rarely fail went to drive in watched 2 movies then decided to start the car and go home just had to boost the guy next to me before i could leave poor poor chevy caprice just didnt wana start untill i cabled from my car to his not running and wamo he fired right up then ajain so did the zook afterwards
so go buy a deep cycle bat and save your self some agravation and tomorow will be a better day :)

To test a battery properly it must first be charged completely, this takes time slow charge is best for battery life,When it is full charged then it can be load tested ,this can be down at most places that sell battery's for free ,,What is the red top thing ? is it the battery or some thing else that was done, that could have caused a short in the system, Hope this helps you .
I measured the dead battery at 12volts. But the engine does not turn over. The dealer is analyzing the problem. Conincidently the Car just came back from the tint shop. Might be a jammed window relay
Something is running the battery down or the battery has a dead cell. Put a charger on the battery and let it fully charge. Then start the engine and test the voltage at the battery. It should show 13.5-16 volts with the engine running. If so, the alternator is good. Remove the negative battery cable and if you see a spark other than a very tiny one, when you touch the negative cable to the negative post you definitely have something drawing power other than the clock which is normal. Now start looking for what is on. Under hood light, glove box light, interior light, brake light, etc. If you find no lights on then it may be a stuck relay. Check all power windows to make sure they are not stuck in the up position. Lower each window slightly and see it it goes back up on it's own. If you find no problems then I would have this battery tested as it may be have a dead cell. If this is the original 6 year old battery I would bet it is defective and you need a new battery.
