My headphones have been working really well, with good quality sound and stuff like that. This was untill a couple of days ago when i was using them, i went to go somewhere for a while and I left them plugged into my computer, when I got back, they were suddenly only woking in one ear!
    It is soooo annoying!!

The same problem - Sound on right side interrupts. I noticed, that it is happening when I'm moving the cord just in the place where it comes-in to the (left) headphone.

I was trying to find out how to unscrew/dismount left headphone and check out cable connection, but I don's see any screws on headphone.

I heard problem can be repaired.

Other solution is just use warranty ;) ...

I had such a problem, but I fixed it.

Plase see video on YouTube:

or read this brief text explanation:

Under/behind the ear sponge are four screws - 3 black screws, that holds ear cup closed, and one silver cup, that mounts small piece of plate, that holds the cord.
Gently unscrew, open ear cup, and then first I suggest to check if circuit on that small circuit board is not broken! You can also check wires, etc.

I have the RS120. It worked ok for about 2 years and then the right side stopped working. The left side works just fine. I opened up the sides and it seems that there is no broken solders or anything...

well it seems your right earpiece is started to get broken...clearly saying that the coil has static and would result to an open coil.....try to replace with a new one...good day...

A year ago i bought an AKG k512 headphones .I really liked them ,but like a week ago the right headphone stopped working. What to do?

Hi,it might be due to the wire that has cut inside the speaker area.

You will need to open the speaker area, and check if the wires are still in place.

And also, if the wires are intact, You will need to replace the speaker inside the headphone, That will solve the problem..

Thanks for using fixya....

Problem with Motorola S9 Wireless Headset.

  • Your sound card's Mixer Panel to ensure you have left/right adjusted properly
  • Your sound card may have a speaker-test function, my RealTek tests with "Left" "Right" speech
  • Check your connectors (head phone & speakers) to ensure they are compatible with your sound card
  • Make sure the plug is FULLY inserted in the speaker card socket, it doesn't take much NOT to be fully inserted
dont forget to rate me.......
good luck......

No sound on right speaker

I would check the cable and plug. A break near the plug would kill the sound. If you are still not certain then, it would be worth cutting of the old plug and fitting a new one. Cutt the cable 10cm from the plug, just to make certain you keep away from the area most likely to fail.

My right earphone won't play

Sound not coming out of one side of the headphone is an indication of connection failure, so that means you have to see where its 'broken' from, either inside the headphone on on the wire somewhere. Usually it happens at the jack, especially if you use an ipod as it tends to get moved alot in pockets, etc..

If this is the case, you could try to cut the wire from where you suspect its broken, and get a 3.5mm (or whatever the original size is) replacement (Do-it-yourself) jack from Radio shack or electronics store.

THen you would have to cut the wire, strip the the rubber coating off, and then if applicable, carefully strip the very thin layer of further insulation thats on the wire it self. Otherwise you would directly connect the cables to the prongs/connections located on the replacement jack. And depending on the jack you would screw it in place or soldier it with soldier and soldiering gun.

If its broken in the headphone or at the headphone, thats much harder to do as you would have to open the head/earphone case and soldier it that way and get it back together in one piece.

Next time don't buy bose headphones and by something cheaper, bose isn't that great, skullcandy is pretty good too. Sennheiser is the best though in my opinion. albieit its expensive too..

Less sound on one ear than the other

Yeah, based on all of your problems, i would safely say that you have a blown speaker. Call up Bose at 1-800-999-2673. If the headphones are under warranty (1 year) they will replace them for free. If now, they will charge you $100 for a replacement pair, which is quite a deal considering that the headphones cost $300.
