2001 2.0 Beetle: Car won't start unless jump started

2001 2.0 Beetle:
Problem started a few days ago. When I put in the key and turn it 1 spot, the head lights and dash lights come on. When I turn the key to start it, I hear a "Click" and everything shuts off the car doesn't even crank.

If I jump start the car, it acts normal and starts and will run. Once I shut the car off, and try to start it again, I get the "click" again and all goes black.

I replaced the battery today thinking that was the problem, but even with the new battery I get the same thing. Please help! :)

Why does 03 Jaguar S-type not try to turn-over now when it jump-start fine a few days ago?

Using the key FOB, turn off the alarm/unlock once the jumper cables are attached and then try to start.

I have a 2006 new beetle, just put in a new battery about a week ago. It drove fine. My problem is, the car won't start when i turned the key. I tried many attempts, but just won't budge. Is

Hi there, with this kind of problem in general, you have to look on any source from where your battery is being drained. Check your new battery if it is drained again. If the voltage is below 12V means there is a close circuit that is using your battery while it is stopped. Recharge your battery and try starting your car or ask a friend to jump your car. If it wont start check your starter motor. Another factor to think of is maybe your alternator is not charging your battery.

My mitsubishi galant suddenly won't start

1. Check n clean battery cables with a battery brush. Look at both ends, if able.
2. Check battery acid level. Add if needed, get a jump.
3. All OK? Then get a battery load-test done free at a parts store.

18 degrees in September? Isn't that Celsius?

1995 Pontiac Grand AM SE. Heater fan works for weeks then won't go, try a couple hours later then it goes.

It sounds like the brushes on armature for (blower motor ) are worn. Sometime a bad spot on the armature from not being used often and also by being in the engine compartment where it is exposed to condensation. When the brushes stop at that particular spot, the blower will not start spin process unless it draws alot of current that may be why the fuse blew. You can remove the blower and examine or just make the change.

Car won't turn over randomly

When it will not crank, a mechanic would check for voltage at the starter, the clutch safety switch, and the key switch.

2001 mustang has new battery, won't start unless it's jumped, then dies after trying to drive a few yards

You have a defective alternator most likely, have it tested by any Autozone it is free.

Elantra will not start-tried jumpers- works 1 time only afterward

Take it to a garage and have them check the starter motor, alternator and battery. This problem sounds like it could be a seized starter motor but it could be a dead battery.

If the car sits for > week, car won't start.

The car does not have an alarm system but does have a remote start system installed by a certified dealer.

2001 VW Beetle Will not start

Hi.
Check the heavy duty cables from the battery to the starter motor and solenoid and also the battery earthing (grounding?) - there terminals could be corroded / burned.

Hope this helps you a bit. If it does, a "Fixya" rating would be much appreciated. If it doesn't
help you, I'd be grateful if you didn't bother with a rating at all. Just come back and tell me what you found. Cheers, D
