Freezer is cold but refrigerator side is barely cooling. turned off and water leaking out of door on the freezer side

Hello Roxanne,

what the problem most likely is a failed part of the defrost system Do you see a bunch of frost built up on the back wall of the freezer? If you do frost build up,i would take off the back wall of the freezer and replace the deforst heater and defrost termination. A hair dryer could be used to melt the built up frost from the coil behind the back wall. Another part that will cause frost build up is the defrost control, that isn't the freezer behind the back wall but instead in the fresh food compartment in the control panel where the thermostat is. I would replace heater/defrost termination first though since they are the most likely to fail parts.

I hope my answer will help you to fix your refrigerator,
Gene

GE refrigerator model PSS27MGMBB Freezer is not working

Open the freezer door and look at the back wall. If there is frost on the back wall, you have a defrost problem, which means air cannot circulate over the cooling coils located behind the freezers back wall. You will have to remove the back wall and melt all the frost with a hair blower, then replace the defrost heater. (part number WR51X10055) . This is assuming that the fan by the compressor and the one inside the freezer are working.

No cooling

Both refrigerator and freezer operate from one system. Air from freezer cools refrigerator. Check back wall of freezer for frost buildup. If frost is evident on the back wall of the freezer it indicates a defrost system problem.

The refrigerator is not getting cold to it's recommended settings.

Check for a frozen coil in the freezer. Air from the freezer supplies the cold air to the refrigerator section for cooling. If frost is on the back wall of the freezer section you have a defrost system problem.
Frost on the back wall of the freezer indicates timer or heater circuit failure.

The fridge section of my LG GRB218JUDA has stopped working and the temperature indicator reads Err FF. Can you help

Side by side and other refrigerators are controlled or cooled by one system. Look to the freezer side for frost buildup on the back wall of the freezer. Frost buildup on the back wall of the freezer stops the air that cools the refrigerator from circulating. Frost on the back wall indicates a problem in the defrost circuit related to the timing device, heaters or defrost thermostat.

Generally speaking if the refrigerator does not cool and you have frost on the back wall of the freezer it suggests a defrost problem.
However since the refrigerator started working by itself it would point to an air circulation problem from the fan in the freezer compartment failing to operate. The frost on the back wall without the fan operating would cause frost buildup because the heat is still trying to get to the coil through the back wall. If your refrigerator freezer has a door fan light switch something holding the door partly open would cause the fan not to operate. Look for a button or toggle and manually push it in. You should hear the fan turn on and the light will go off.
