How do i type a letter to print on a lex mark 5000

It could be that the same print job is queued on your computer's Print Spooler. Please follow the steps below to resolve this issue:

1. On your computer, browse to Start -> Run and type in NET STOP SPOOLER (this will stop the print spooler service)

2. Browse to your windows\system32\spool\PRINTERS\ folder. You should see files there ending in .SPL and .SHD created around the time you tried to print - delete these files.

3. Browse to Start -> Run... and type in NET START SPOOLER (this will restart the print spooler service)

4. Double click the printer icon in the lower-right corner of your taskbar to examine your print job queue and browse to View -> Refresh.

Try to print again.

If the problem continues, please contact Lexmark Technical Support Center for further troubleshooting.

If they don't print until you hit the return key you are in the delay print mode, use the print mode key on the R. side to get out of it. If it isn't printing at all the plastic print solenoid cap is broken. We sell them with shipping and instructions for 20.00.

In most cases if the printer is asking for an unexpected manual feed it is because the paper tray is not set to the right paper size or type. To set the paper size to the most common size and type (letter size plain paper) use the following instructions.

1. Press the Menu button.
2. Press the right arrow key until Paper Menu then press Check Mark.
3. Press the right arrow key until Size/Type then press Check Mark.
4. Press the right arrow key until Tray 1 then press Check Mark.
5. Press the right or left arrow key until Letter then press Check Mark.
6. Press the right or left arrow key until Plain then press Check Mark.
7. Press the back button until Ready is displayed.

This will set up your printer for plain letter paper and should relieve the manual feed error unless your computer is sending other paper size/type settings.

The selection motor bearings just right of the print solenoid get dry a little WD40 on the front and rear bearings usually takes care or this.

Try FN + Numlock

the mark you are seeing is the print hammer hitting the paper. remove the ribbon. corr. tape & print wheel. turn on the typewriter. close cover let it home it's self. open cover put in print wheel. close cover let it nome. put in ribbon close cover. try typing if marks are still ther. you will need a new print wheel. if working then put in corr. tape or if you are better at spelling then me you will not need it

I had the exact problem. It was caused by a defective photoconductor.

Depending on what colour the spots/marks are, the photoconductor for that toner cartridge needs to be changed.
