Problem with my 4805 projector

It looks like my light tunnel is bad. I turned on my projector and the right side of the screen looks like there's a dark shadow on it. Is it the light tunnel? If so, is it repairable or does it have to be replaced. I am a disabled mom of four children and saved forever to get this and now it is broken. If it can be repaired, where do you get a diagram, manual etc or if it has to be replaced, where can I get the part and a diagram and manual?. Is it an expensive fix? THanks so much for your help. Have a great evening.

Can the light tunnel be reglued? f so, what type of glue do you use and where can I find a diagram showing the internal parts of the 4805 projector and a how to repair manual? If it can't be glued, how long do you think it will be before you get the part in? if I can't do this, do you fix these for people? You have been a great help. THanks so much.

It's nothing to do with the bulb or dust, I don't know why some people encourage others to buy a new lamp when this is so expensive and then find that it does not solve the problem. Shadows on the sides of the projected image are almost certainly to be the light tunnel collapsing and one side of it is being pushed by the clip that is holding it thus creating the shadow. The shadow would normally be on the left if the projector is the right way up (ie.on a table). If it is ceiling mounted (upside down) it would show on the right. I gave instructions elsewhere on how to do this, it is not for the faint hearted as you can easily damage the colour wheel while doing this as this is very fragile. Another thing is that you don't have to align the tunnel after replacing it as long that you don't try to adjust any of the aligning screws before hand. I speak from experience, a lot of it.

All you have to do is replace the bulb. there is dust making that dark spot on the right. you need to clean the 4805. it gets dusty which buils up in that area on the right

Yes, you are describing a light tunnel failure and it can be repaired. The parts are available, I just don't have any on hand right now. I will be ordering more this week. The part is about $40.00 plus shipping. The repairs can be challenging if you are not experienced. The color wheel has to be removed to get to the light tunnel The light tunnel is very fragile and easily broken.

I don't try to repair the tunnel. One, I can never be sure that I
have it perfectly aligned and two, I can't guarantee the repairs.
The cost of the part is not significant enough for me to consider
    trying.

The procedure was detailed by another poster in one of the other forums
you've visited. Either in the Big Screen or the AVS forums, I
    don't recall which one.

I don't have an ETA on them yet. It will probably be 2 - 3 weeks before I see them.

And yes, I repair these projectors.

Its a Light Tunnel failure. Go to www.avsforums.com and search for 4805 Light Tunnel. There are instructions to open the PJ and repair the Tunnel. Also, I posted a DIY replacement option in lieu of fixing the very fragile tunnel.

We have a screenplay 4805 by infocus. the right third has a dark shadow over the picture? the picture is lightly visible thru the shadow.

the light tunnel under the colorwheel has collasped or the projector has been jarred, knocking the mirror inside of the lens assy. out of alignment. Either way, it will have to be repaired by a technician.

Slight shadow on right side of screen

this is image banding. the light tunnel needs to be adjusted, or replaced if it is collasped.

Infocus 4805 has yellow line on the right side of the screen

It will be the light tunnel. Apparently it is very common in the 4805. See here for how to fix it, by the way you cant get parts so its a DIY job.

It has a shadow on half the screen

the light tunnel has collapsed. you can get the part from an infocus service center and do it yourself or send it to one for repair. either way, try av solutions in ny. they're really good. www.avsolutionsny.com

Dark side of screen

the light tunnel has collapsed and needs replacing. the part is inexpensive and relatively easy to replace. if you can get the part from infocus or an authorized service center (part # 306-0095-01), remove the top (4 brass screws and 4 silver screws on the bottom, 2-3 silver screws on the back), next to the lens is the colorwheel. remove the 2 black screws on the colorwheel base, 2 black screws on the metal tunnel frame side, remove the tunnel glass. replace, and reverse the instructions to put it back together.

New Problem after fixing Light Tunnel on a SP 4805

It sounds like you have mounted the replacement light tunnel incorrectly. It is a common error. What has happened is you have the light tunnel sitting on yop of the positioning stop which is opposite from the color wheel side. If you take it back apart you will see that it's not laying parallel to the casting. if you reposition it so it is just touching where the opening is in the clamp on the color wheel side you will feel it fall into place.

Glass prism

Greetings,

Thanks for contacting us regarding your product questions or concerns. It appears you are wanting to know how to reach the glass prism from your 4805?

My initial question would be, why are you looking to access the glass prism in your 4805? This is a very dilicate process internally of your projector which helps it opperate. Are you trying to self-repair your projector?

Let me know. I'll be waiting for your reply.
