Take a piece of insulated wire and short the capacitors leads together on the bottom side of the board. You should hear it discharge, just take the bared end of the wire and place it across both leads on the reverse of the circuit board and this will discharge the capacitors

When the tv is first turned on the picture is great. After about 5-10 minutes the picture looks like a 3 D movie when you're not wearing the proper glasses. Sometimes turning it off for 10 minutes and...

the 3d effect is caused by a mis alignment of the tree tubes you probably have a broken FRAME holding the tubes in place so that HEAT or VIBRATION can move them and the alingment is off dont forget you have one tube for RED one for GREEN and the other for BLUE if they are not aligned properly they can look like a 3d pcture without 3d glasses ha! sorry for the bad grammer...

Good luck!

I'm getting an overlapping of two colors on the screen.

Hi,
It is common problem with rear projection tv and 3D type picture problem occurs due to failure of convergence output ICs, replacement of convergence output ICs will fix the issue and tv will again show correct converge picture as before.
Let me know tv model number written on back of tv if you want to fix tv by yourself as it needs soldering parts in circuit board expertise and if you feel uncomfortable working in tv circuit boards than local tv repairman will do this job for you.
Thanks.

Picture looks like 3D without the glasses

This is a convergence prioblem that can be as simple as poor solder connections at the convergence ICs or defective ICs. In any case, to provide details, I will need the model number. Can you please update this and confirm that the model number is: 60PP9202? ALso, please indicate whether or not you wish to attempt the repair and I will provide additional instructions as well.

Thanks,
Dan

Picture is all distorted ,colors dont match up need 3d glasses to watch

HI, this is basic convergence failure. the convergence board controls the RGB stream and , if its malfunctioning or, the convergence chip set is damaged, it will distort the entire display and the colors will not be regulated correctly as you are experiencing at this time.

simply replacing the convergence board in this unit will fix your issue.
