Hello. No simple solution. And unfortunately the cost of repair is more than a replacement. Joe

Power runner car battery charger not working. display shows "Err 1"

Get a simple Batt charger from sears. Batt charger does not have to be fancy w/ all kinds of buttons. Some are automatic, some are not and need to be monitored. The simpler the more reliable.

Icom bc-179 do not charge the battery

Charging a battery requires two components. A working charger and a functioning battery. The concept is simple. A battery charger must output more voltage than the battery does, and at an acceptable current level. First determine the battery output from the ID sticker, then measure the charger output. It must be 1 or 2 volts more than the battery output. If the charger is working, charge the battery overnight. If the battery does not charge or runs down quickly, the battery must be replaced. All batteries have a limited number of charge cycles. The most common problem with Ni-Cad batteries happens when they are re-charged before they are completely discharged. Recharging a half used Ni-Cad sets up a short term memory and the battery discharges faster than normal.

Battery charging

Check your charger to make sure it is the right one for your laptop. If it is then test it's output to make sure it is producing the correct voltage and amperage. You can read the label on the charger to find out what it should be. Then a simple test with a multimeter will tell you what you want to know. If that is all good, check the contacts where the battery plugs in. Are they in good shape? Not bent or broken. Clean them with a pencil eraser so they are shiny. Now, disconnect the charger and plug in your battery. Do you have an indicator of power? Will your laptop boot? If not, use the multimeter to test the output of the battery. It should read the same output voltage as the charger.

HI there! I am using a targus universal wall power adaptor for laptops, it has an output of 19.5 V and 90 W. I was wondering if I could use this to charge my UK laptop from ADVENT. The charger for this has...

The wattage is to different, the wattage for the adapter is 90watts, and the charge for the advent is only 65w.

You can always try it, but you risk damaging your battery, or motherboard.

Charger light blinks red never goes to solid red which is charging mood Had a friend charge the battery it does charge problem is with the charger not the battery

Worx has had issues with their chargers and their batteries. They don't seem to last as long as the machine does. A simple voltmeter test of the charger and any battery will tell the story. The charger's output rating should be printed on it and the battery also. Touch test leads from voltmeter to the two and check.

New batteries does not seem to fully charge. tested the output of the charger with meter and it shows no voltage on the output of the charger, but the two lights flash quickly when plugged in to the wall...

The measurements below are for a 12 volt charger or across one battery at a time. In a 24 volt charger or across both batteries at once, double the values.
The charger will not show any output unless connected to a battery. To test the charger, attach the charger to the battery but do not plug in the charger. Connect a meter to the battery and read the voltage (9.8v - 11.6v).
Now plug in the charger. Read the battery again (13.6 - 14.2v).
The voltage must not be higher than 14.8 on the battery or the battery will over-charge - the charger needs service. If the voltage does not come up to 13.2v, the charger is not running. Again, the charger needs service.
Be patient. You can wait ten minutes and measure again. Batteries respond slowly to the charger.
