My lense is not rotating out, it will turn on but I can not take pictures nor view the pics I've taken. Is there anyway I can fix this, how much would it cost to get it fixed?
Re: My lense is not rotating out and now is disabled
If the lens isn't coming out then the drive or the gears are toast. If you don;t have warrenty this can cost as much as replacement camera to fix. Contact Canonsupport and they can tell you how much.

If you have an exceptional amount of pictures on your camera...This could be a simple problem solver? You need to remove some or all your of your pictures from your camera to create more memory and storage.
You have a couple of options
Save all your pictures to memory card, from the memory card save to your computer in a file or to a USB Flash Drive (Cruzer), or on a CD/DVD disk.
Or, install a new Memory card that has more Storage Capabilities.
You need to check your setting as to how the pictures are viewed and stored, it's possible you have your camera set to auto rotate and also auto set format...change these settings to manual!
currently on a trip in Europe and when I went to shoot this morning, I
can only capture 1/3 of the area I'm shooting. That is everything in
the lower 2/3 of the screen is black. I've tried a couple of lenses
with no avail. Viewing previous pics is not a problem, so this is
obviously not a screen problem. I'm thinking something with the
mirrors? Any suggestionns for further detail visit this website http://newsallworld.com/
That's because you used the computer's operating system to change the orientation of the info on the card. Now the camera doesn't recognize the original info. From now on, download the pics to the computer first before you try to rotate them.
wipe off the lense with a clothe or something, that might be the problem. Or if you move the cam too much when you are trying to take a pic, that also mighht be the problem. If not, I have no idea.
1.Hold the camera normally like you would take a picture.
2.Turn it on and review a picture.
3. While looking at a picture, take your index (pointer) finger and rotate the front "wheel" right under the shutter release button. This switches the viewing mode, and should solve your problem.
If these cameras are less than a year old then they are still under warranty, and Olympus repair shops( found on their website) will repair them for free minus shipping charges. The lenses probably have broken gears or have just been pushed out of alignment and can be repaired by someone mechanically inclined and very gentle with components. Can find good used and or possibly new lenses on ebay. Not that hard to replace.
