Unscrew the machine, there should be screws holding the unit in place. Remove the screws, and pull the drive out slightly. It should be able to disconnect from the computer's power supply and other wiring then you're home free.

hi,
when you insert cd or dvd your drive keep bilinking? in that case the your cd and dvd drive lense is faulty. If you can change the lense it is ok or change the drive.
I hope this will resolve.
This is the inherent risk in updating firmware to optical drives.
Buy a new drive, power down the PC, install it and reboot the PC. If it is and IDE drive, or a SATA for that matter, before you buy a new drive make sure to disconnect and reconnect both ends of the cable prior to replacing it, just to be sure it wasn't an accidentally dislodged cable causing the problem.
Generally what you will need to do is first open the computer case. Then you will see 2 screws on each side of the CD-Rom Drive. You will need to remove these screws. Now you should be able to slide the CD-ROM forward away from the front of the case. Before you completely remove it you will need to remove the cables at the back of the CD-ROM before removing them note the position of them. Now that the CD-ROM is removed bring it to the store and ask the associate for the correct replacement. Once you bring the replacement home installation is reverse of the listed procedure. One thing to not is the position of the Jumper on Slave, Master, or Cable Select. This will be explained on the instructions that come with the new drive. Whatever the jumper setting is on the old drive make sure it is set the same on the new drive. Once this is done turn the computer on and you should be all set. Good luck and keep me posted.
