It looks like the timer & control may have to be replace or if you are handy with a soldering iron and a multimeter you can check the power supply that powers up the display.
Check this site for some additional info and you can browse through the parts supplier here and enter the model number of your microwave to find the entire timer & control assembly if you decide to change it yourself.
Let me know if you need more assistance.
Good Luck.

It sounds like a bad wire connection to the lcd screen which could be fixed with soldering or moving it just right and taping it back so it has connection

Can you still microwave food?

If you cant the device has broken down and I would recommend takeing it to warranty repairs.

If its a cheap model, I supose you might be better off with buying a new one. Since if you dont have warranty repair it might cost more than a new model.

If you need more assistance let me know.

Thanks, remember to review and good luck to you

If the microwave buttons don't work the touchpad and control panel assembly are probably defective.

Ge eterna series - installed above oven. microwave stops working and display instructs to set time and date, then after setting time and date and starting oven again it stops after a few seconds and asks...

The magnetron draws a lot of power and the mains may be dipping beneath an acceptable level, causing the panel to reset.
Check the supply cable size and any connections.

When machine is first turned on it will run till bin is filled and it cuts off, but will not restart after ice is removed from the bin. This os a hoshizaki commercial ice machine

Remove front panel, look at controler,(where the blinking lights are) there should be a sticker on the back of the panel that tells you what the problem is by how the light flashes. IE- if light flashes 2 times, stps, flashes 2 times, etc, etc

My GE model JVM1653 has problems when heating I

Take the 2 screws out of the top outside grill. Take the 1 screw out of the top of the control panel. Lift the panel slightly and it will tilt out and hang there. Try a cook cycle with the panel in this position. If it works, your problem is interference from your magnetron. It is very common on these units. I do not recommend adding EMI shielding with tin foil as many have been suggesting on the help sites. If you are still under warranty, call GE. If not, call GE and threaten to sue. This is a known problem with these units and they should have been recalled.

Buttons including light, cook time, etc will work infrequently

Good news, even though the electronic controls (circuit boards) are different, the touch pads for the two units are the same. As far as the nomenclature behind the model numbers/letters, this information is rarely known or needed.

Please take the time to give this solution a fix ya rating.

The Control Panel is failing. The Control Panel consists of a Keypad, and a Control PC (Printed Citcuit) Board. You can replace it as a complete unit. Not Cheap!!
Good Luck!
