Method 1 doesn't work on my MP150. But a friend said wait until the ink problem comes up on your PC screen then push the reset button on the printer and hold it for a few seconds and the printer will resume printing, however it will no longer report ink status to your monitor. Sure beats buying those expensive new ink cartridges though.

I too filled the existing Canon ink cartridges and the orange LED's light up indicating low or no ink. I am able to print but the lights are annoying and the indication that I am low on ink keeps coming up on my monitor. Anyone know of a cure???????? The instructions about the maintenance procedures never mention how to extinguish these lights. Joe

all the other sites I had visited said that it could not be done.

    Thanks cropp :-)

You should check the ink level.
Open the [Printer Properties] dialog box. Click the [Maintenance] tab and click [View Printer Status].

If the "?" mark appears then you have to disable the low ink warning. If something else appears please let me know.

The reset procedure is this:
1) With the printer powered off but connected to a power source, press the Power button while pressing and holding
the Stop/ Reset button.
2) When the Power is lit, press the Stop/Reset button two times while pressing and holding the Power button.
3) When releasing the Power button and the Stop / Reset button (regardless of order), the printer will move into a
service mode. (Waiting for menu selection)
4) When the on/off lights in green, press the Stop/Reset button the specified number of time(s) according to the
function listed in the table below.(Each time the Stop/Reset button is pressed, the LED lights alternately in

5) Turn off the printer.( it must be turn off)
then turn it on again.

How to error e5 how to go to service mode

Hum....e5 error.

The truth is...there is no solution for e5 error.
U may see some solutions through web, however, non of them works..

The only way you can get out of e5 error, replace with new cartridge..
or...
prevent it...before you face it!!

How?
Whenever you take out the cartridge from printer, make sure unplug the power code first..
and then take and refill or whatever...

And then when you put it back....do it when power code is unplugged as well.

Personally, I refilled and used CL831 more than 8 times..

If you would like to save money, try refill kit by "ROADINK".
Not only they are easy, but also the printing quality is good.
For your better understanding pls check out my youtube video.
And will see how easy ink refill can be done.

HI When I switch on my MP 150 Printer the following error displayed E 5. Kindly help me to rectify this error. Thank you.

E5 means your cartridge error. May I know are you using original ink cartridge or yours has been modified before?
I assume you to refill your ink cartridge before because E5 error won't appear after replacing new cartridge.
So, you need to take out both of your ink cartridge and then use a clean cloth to wipe them. After that, slowly put in back into the printer. If the error is still there after wiping it, try to do it till the error is gone.
I had tested this way with my own printer and it works again without needed to buy a new ink cartridge.
All the best and good luck =)

What is error e5 in mp 198 printer

E5 - The ink cartridges are not installed or a non-supported ink cartridge is installed , or the ink cartridges are not installed properly..

  • In certain models of Canon Pixma printers such as the Canon MP160 and Canon MP150, you may receive an E5 error when trying to print. In this state, you will not be able to use any of the functions of your printer. The error itself is an ink cartridge error. It may be that you are using generic or off-brand ink cartridges in your Canon Pixma printer. Canon Pixma printers do not work with other brands of print cartridges; invest in Canon brand ink cartridges and this should take care of your problem.
