Hello Kristi,

I'm not sure if this will work, but worth a try. It appears that your power up settings have got messed up somehow.

Put it all back together, batteries and charger. It will try to boot after a fashion. Just give it a couple of minutes to try and do what it should. If it still hasn't come on properly, press and keep pressed the on/off button until the laptop turns off (about 5 seconds). Leave it a couple of minutes then try and turn it on again normally.

After this, I'd need to be able to look at what's happening to help any more.

Try re-seating the keyboard, here is a link to dells website showing you how to remove the keyboard...it's not a tricky thing to do but do take your time and follow the instructions.

http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/ins1545/en/SM/keyboard.htm

Once the keyboard is removed have a look for any liquid ingress from the cleaning, just pat down with a paper towel and replace the keyboard and restart, let me know if this helped.

Hi, my laptop a HP Omnibook 6100 has a problem, if its moved the screen flickers and the system freezes, if a move it again it comes back to normal. Sometimes the screen gets messed up after flickering and...

This is a common HP fault it's caused by the chip just about the touchpad. Unfortuately there is no great fix for this, infact it will get worse before it gets better. I have similar problems with a customers laptop (HP NX6110), I took the motherboard out and refolwed the solder on the chip but this only fixed the problem for a couple of weeks and then it went back to doing the same thing again. Try to find a computer engineer to perform that and see how long you can get out of it. Sorry there is no quick fix.

Hope this helped

I would disconnect the laptop and run system restore, and turn back the system a few days and see if the system comes back to normal. To get to system restore, click on start button > programs > accessories > system tools > system restore. This will only restore the laptop back as far as you want, this is not a complete "you lose everything", this will only go back a few days if that is what you want.

My Keyboard and touch-mouse wouldn't work; couldn't start in normal. I took out battery and typed passcode in superfast (3 days of trying to this point) and it let me in. I'm afraid if I shut down for

Sounds to me like you are having a computer virus. The best thing to do here is to go first into safe mode and restore your system to a previous date a couple of days before this problem of yours started. try scanning your system. if it does not work in safe mode and you really need to go into normal mode. when you get the message immediately click on start then run. in the run window.. inside that text box, type in "shutdown -a". that would prevent you from restarting. do the scan from normal mode.

HP DV9000 ''G'' ''H'' and backspace keys seem to not work on occasion

Sometimes the simplest things cause us the most grief. A starting point might be to turn the laptop upside down (be careful!). Then, use some compressed air (Dust Off, etc) to blow the keyboard. If there is trash in the keyboard, you might just blow it out -- and fix the problem.

If that doesn't work, you might consider having the keyboard replaced. I normally take them off the laptop and hit them with compressed air from the back before replacing the keyboard. That's an option you should pursue only if you feel comfortable with minor dis-assembly of your laptop.

I hope this helps. If it does, please rate the solution offered. My goal is always FixYa or Helpful, never TFT or IA. Regards,
