Wont turn on

1.Plug the Inspiron's AC power cord into a power outlet and try to power on the laptop again. By far the most common cause of a laptop's not powering on is a dead battery.
2.Plug the AC adapter into a different outlet to check for a "dead" outlet. If you have the cable plugged into a surge protector, plug the cord into a different slot on the surge protector or "bypass" the surge protector by plugging the cable into an electrical outlet. If the Inspiron now powers on, replace the surge protector or have an electrician examine any "dead" outlets in the home.
3.Open the battery bay on the underside of the Inspiron by sliding the battery bay latch release lock upward and the battery bay latch release to the right. Once both latches are released, the battery bay should open.
4.Remove the battery.
5.Purchase a compatible replacement battery for laptop. Be aware that using an incompatible battery can cause damage to your computer. If you have any doubt as to compatibility, the best option is to purchase the replacement battery directly from your laptop's manufacturer.
6.Install the new battery by following the battery-removal procedure in reverse order. Once the new battery is installed, try again to power on the laptop. If there is still no power, seek professional repair advice.

I hope you find it very helpful.

Tip

Laptop will not turn on, laptop will not power on, laptop will not start

Make sure your laptop battery has a charge. Plug it into the wall outlet for 30+ minutes and then try powering it on. When you plug it into a power source, usually the laptop will have a light indicating that it is charging. Look for a light. If the light does not light up, try a different wall outlet.
If it still does not charge, you may have a bad power cord, a bad laptop battery, the wall outlet may be bad or the laptop itself is damaged and will need to be serviced by a technician or replaced.

Through the process of elimination you can narrow down possible causes.
-Try a different wall outlet(or by testing another device make sure the wall outlet is good)
-Try a different power cable.
-Try a different laptop battery.

If none of the above help then you may need to have your laptop repaired(internal damage) or replaced.

If your laptop is under warranty you should contact your laptop manufacturer or warranty policy holder to have it repaired or even replaced.

If it is not under warranty you should look for local computer repair shops or technicians.

-G33k
hello

shut down computer - unplug power cord from laptop - remove the battery from laptop - plug Ac adapter into computer and Ac outlet (wall)
turn on computer
if computer does not turn on, replace the AC adapter and cord - then place battery back into computer
plug in new Ac adapter and cord - recharge battery - if orange light stays on after 4-6 hours of charging battery, you need new battery as well - replace battery, charge it up and it should be fine

if you have attempted these steps before and no change occurs, then you may have issue with power connection in computer - locate a service centre to replace power connection on computer

We need to know what is defective and what is not.

 1. Remove the battery from the laptop.
 2. Plug the power cord to the laptop and plug it to the wall power outlet.
 3. Now, without the battery, turn your laptop ON.
 4. If it powers ON without the battery, then your battery is completely dead and needs replacement. If the problem is still the same, then it should be a motherboard problem considering that you have already confirmed that your power cords are working.
Try your luck. Post feedback if you need further instructions. The point is, you need to know if the battery is dead by removing it first then connecting your laptop directly to the wall power outlet. You can connect it to a Surge Protector or Automatic Voltage Regulator for safety purposes if you want.

Laptop won't turn on

Hi,
Try powering it on with and without the battery. If that doesn't work, check your cord to the wall.
Most times when a laptop will not boot up it is either due to a problem on the mobo (expensive to fix/get diagnosed usually) or the product of a loose pin where you plug in the power cord.
Thanks

Computer won't turn on though plugged into wall

Make sure you have power at the outlet. Take power cord off and remove battery. Hold power button down for 10 seconds, plug just power cord. Try to turn on. If dose not work , you have a hardware issue.
