Ge dishwater problem

Won't fill with water

Dishwasher doesn't let much water in , starts out slow and never cranks up the water pressure, if there is a pump or valve, it's not working. I checked to see if there is plenty of water pressure from my water line and there is. I purchased the new unit from Home Depot after the GE recall on my old unit that was recalled for the risk of catching on fire. What's Up with GE , I used to think they were one of the best , now I'm not so sure . Plus there are reports that GE is trying to Weasel out of there original rebate offer!

I was trying to find a simple solution so I wouldn't have to wait all day for the GE repair man. The dishwasher was still under warranty, I called GE and the repairman was to arrive between 1 and 5pm today, He arrived at 4pm and determined the valve was bad, he replaced it and it works fine. I did basicily waist my day waiting for the repairman, I'm glad it's now working. Woody.

water temp should be a minimum 140 degrees at inlet this can be checked with meat thermometer at kitchen faucet, also need proper fill of water entering dishwasher proper water pressure and fill also important for proper cleaning of dishes,if water is slow entering you may have sediment inside fillvalve screen if on well water in this case you will have to disconnect water supply line and take valve apart the screen is in side valve reassemble and test operation...if this does not work you may have to replace inlet vavle

What is the float switch

I have no real experience with float switches on dishwashers, but have with some in humidifiers. It's a piece of styrofoam on a narrow metal stick that lifts when the appliance fills with water & lowers when the water empties. If this gets stuck on something, like a dishwasher rack, the unit won't fill or empty the water & the cycles won't work properly. Take a look & see if there is such a thing hung up somewhere in the dishwasher. If you can loosen it, your dishwasher should work again.

Sink dishwater intrusion

Hello- Find drain hose from dishwasher under sink. Should have gooseneck ~ in hose run to keep water from getting back into dwshr. Does full sink drained all at once push water into tub? Sometimes stuff not disposalled yet blocks drainage. Older motors can tend to become weak with age, not pumping as much water out of tub as it used to.Anyway- Hope this helps- ED

Water keeps filling even if dishwater is off or if the door is open, the only way to stop it is from turning tap valve off below the sink.

Your dishwasher water fill valve is defective. Remove power from the DW. Remove the bottom toe kick panel. The water valve has the incoming water line connected to it.Remove the wires from the valve. If the water stops entering you have a bad timer. If it makes no difference you have a bad valve. The valve is a replaceable part. The timer is a replaceable part.

run it again on the hot cycle...if that doesn't work...you have a clogged drain hose or a defective pump.
