Question about Projection Televisions

I have a brand new Sony Bravia flat screen HDTV hooked up to Charter Cable. There is a constant background humming sound which is really annoying. If I turn down the tv volume (to where I can't hear the hum) and turn up the cable volume full blast it isn't loud enough to hear the program. If I mute the Tv with the remote the buzz goes away. If I mute the cable with the remote the sound goes off but the buzz remains.I have had the cable box switched out. The Charter guys have been to my home twice and can't seem to fix it. I heard I may need a ground loop?

The solution of using a ground isolator did the trick. Thanks eagle338!!

If the hum is low in pitch, it can be a product of improper grounding.
Another tip is to make sure your TV, Receiver and cable/ satellite box are all plugged into the same electrical circuit in your home. Sometimes, different wall outlets in the same room are wired to different circuits, and they can have different ground potentials, producing a hum. Lastly, If you have Cable TV or Satellite TV, unplug the coax wire that connects from the wall to your cable/ DBS box. If this stops the hum, then you need to purchase a ground isolator such as the one listed in the website cited. This particular one works with Digtal cable and Satellite systems. If none of these work, you may have to call a specialist to come look at your system in your home to fully diagnose the problem.

Hey, first thing that comes to mind is that your cables are faulty.

OR

your receaver (or what your tv is connected to) Is causeing the buzz.

Possible reasons: the device has a bad connection or bad signal. Or your powersystem is unstable.

Heres a text about GroundLoop.

My brother has a 60" Sony xbr1 year 2006 and the red light blinks when you turn on but no picture or sound. Has a brand new bulb, that's not the issue.

Could be a cooling fan. Sometimes they don't start because of dust buildup. Could be worn out also. I had to replace mine once. Can order via internet.

Hook up sony blu ray

You should be able to hook it up with a component video cable. A component video cable is a cable that has 5 color coded RCA style ends that are Green/Blue/Red/White/Red. The Green, Blue and one of the Reds is for the video and delivers the signals needed to produce the HD picture and the White and the other Red is for the audio to provide you with stereo sound.

The Video cords will plug into the section labeled component video facing up and down and the audio will plug into the side by side section. So if you plug into Component input 2 then you would plug in the audio into the audio section of input 2.

If you have a separate surround sound system you can connect one of two ways.
1. Plug a separate Audio (red/white) cable from the Blu Ray to an available input on the surround sound.

or

2. Plug all inputs into the TV (as noted above) and then plug a separate Audio (red/white) cable from the tv labeled "Audio Out" to an available input on the surround sound system.

Hey there Aleman500-

I had this exact same issue with mine. Started noticing the "blue cloud" on the bottom portion of the screen.

Please follow this link and the instructions listed. I opted for an "upgrade" that was offered (brand new 46" bravia lcd) but sony had also offered to fix my tv for free.

My tv did this while it was still under warranty. It was diagnosed as cracked horizontal deflection coil.  They replaced the coil.  I hope you can get it fixed. I know it is very annoying.
